So sweet: Ryan Gosling pulled out all the stops to help his Barbie director Greta Gerwig celebrate her 40th birthday this Friday; the pair are pictured at the Los Angeles premiere of their movie
What a gift: The Hollywood heartthrob, who plays a Ken in the hit movie, arranged for a flash mob to serenade her with songs from the film
Greta, who co-wrote Barbie with her acclaimed filmmaker husband Noah Baumbach, giggled uncontrollably when the Kens arrived.
The first song on the roll was I’m Just Ken, a romantic ballad performed in the movie by Ryan Himself, who previously sang in La La Land.
As Greta watched in delight, the Kens whirled through their choreography, flexing their impressive muscles.
Then Dance The Night began, with the flash mob gaining momentum and prompting a few women dressed as Barbies to join in the fun.
After the performance, a clearly overwhelmed Greta was asked if she had any idea who had sent her the flash mob.
When she answered no, she got a hint that immediately revealed the answer to her: “Think of a bagpiper.”
Ryan went viral last month when Greta revealed he sent a piper to a sleepover that she and some of the other Barbie cast also attended.
In an interview with British GKGreta revealed that he had the musician visit them as an apology for Ryan’s inability to get to them himself.

Full steam ahead: Greta’s birthday came on the heels of the news that Barbie, starring Margot Robbie in the title role, is thundering to a billion dollars at the box office
“This man, this Scottish man in a full kilt, showed up and played the bagpipes,” she said. Then he read a speech from Braveheart. And then he left.’
The speech in question contains the line in which William Wallace declares that the English “may take our lives, but they will never take our liberty!”
Greta’s birthday came on the heels of the news that Barbie, starring Margot Robbie in the title role, is thundering to a billion dollars at the global box office.
Prior to the film’s release, industry observers were anxious to see how Barbie would fare against Oppenheimer, which bowed on the same weekend.
A playful ‘Barbenheimer’ rivalry erupted and a trend emerged among highly devoted moviegoers to see both films back to back on the same day.
Despite Oppenheimer’s box office win, Barbie managed to sail ahead on their mutual opening weekend.
A new report from CNBC predicted that Barbie will cross the $1 billion mark by next Monday, a milestone for female filmmakers.
Lead analyst Shawn Robbins of BoxOffice.com commented, “Entering the billion-dollar box office club is a turning point for Barbie and Greta Gerwig, as the latter will become the first solo female director to achieve this feat.”
