Ryan Gosling reveals which ‘lazy’ La La Land moment ‘haunts me’ seven years later: ‘I have to see it all the time’

Ryan Gosling is still trying to relive a major moment from La La Land.

When asked which film he would like to remake, the 43-year-old Academy Award nominee told the Wall Street Journal:maybe La La Land‘ because of his pose on the poster.

“There’s a moment that haunts me where we’re dancing, Emma [Stone] and me,” he explained. “And I didn’t know this was going to be the poster for the movie.

“We were supposed to have our hands up, and I thought it would be cooler to keep my hand like that,” Gosling said, gesturing with the flat of his hand. “Even though everyone told me it wasn’t cool.”

He continued, “Looking at it now and having to see it all the time, you know what would have been cooler than this?”

“There’s a moment that haunts me where we’re dancing, Emma [Stone] and me,” he explained. “And I didn’t know this was going to be the poster for the movie.”

“That,” Gosling admitted, holding up his hand.

“It just killed the energy that way,” he added. ‘What did this all lead to? Just a sloth, I call it ‘La La Hand’.”

Gosling was shocked to learn that the move is known in the dance community as “hamburger hands.” “It’s a thing!” he said.

And although the Mickey Mouse Club alumnus learned to dance as a child, Gosling isn’t sure if those skills will stick.

“Well, I thought it would help in La La Land. And then of course, Hamburger Hands Gosling here, that ultimately didn’t help me at all,” he joked.

The 2016 musical film, written and directed by Damien Chazelle, starred Gosling as struggling jazz musician Sebastian and Stone, 35, as aspiring actress Mia.

The film earned Gosling his second Oscar nomination for Best Actor, following 2006’s Half Nelson.

In an infamous pop culture moment, La La Land was accidentally announced as Best Picture instead of winner Moonlight.

Gosling recently won Best Supporting Actor earlier this year for his beloved performance as Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.

In the same interview, the Canadian actor revealed how fatherhood has affected the characters he plays.

“I don’t really play roles that put me in a dark position,” he said.

Before starring in La La Land, Gosling was known for more serious roles in Murder by Numbers (2002), Blue Valentine (2010), Drive (2011) and The Place Beyond the Pines (2012).

“Right now I feel like reading the room at home and thinking about what will be best for all of us,” Gosling said.

He added: “The decisions I make, I make together with Eva [Mendes]and we make them with our family in mind first.”

In the same interview, the Canadian actor explained how fatherhood and La La Land made him decide to stop taking roles that put him in a “dark place.”

Gosling can be seen in The Fall Guy, which is now in theaters

Gosling shares daughters Esmerelda Amalda, 9, and 8-year-old Amada Lee with Mendes, 50, who met while filming The Place Beyond the Pines.

“I think La La Land was the first,” Gosling said of his professional epiphany.

“It was kind of like, oh, this will be fun for them too, because even if they don’t come to the set, we practice piano every day or we dance or sing.”

He added: “I think it happened when I had children. Really, you start to become much more aware of everything you do and everything you’ve ever done and everything you’re going to do when you get the chance to do it.”

Gosling can be seen in The Fall Guy, which is now in theaters.
