Ryan Garcia should be banned from boxing for LIFE after positive PED test, Devin Haney’s father Bill claims

Devin Haney’s father and trainer, Bill Haney, has called for Ryan Garcia to be given a lifetime ban from boxing after he tested positive for a banned substance.

Garcia upset Haney in a thrilling fight last month, but shortly after fight night it emerged he had failed drug tests.

The 25-year-old, who denies wrongdoing, tested positive for ostarine in both his A and B samples.

The tests were administered the day before and the day of the fight in Brooklyn.

Haney has called for the outcome to be overturned – to a disqualification victory – with the New York State Athletic Commission earlier this week insisting their investigation continues.

But following news of the B sample findings, Haney Sr has urged boxing authorities to ban Garcia for life.

β€œIt’s clear… there’s nothing you can do with this man except get him out of the sport,” he countered TMZ.

‘It’s a terrible thing… it’s a terrible thing for the sport in general. It’s terrible for boxing.’

Garcia has denied knowingly taking performance-enhancing drugs.

He also claims to have submitted a hair sample for testing in an attempt to clear his name.

But Haney Sr. said he’s not confident his son would get a rematch even if they could guarantee Garcia was clean.

‘You see me with my children, I don’t know what to tell them. The Haneys, we’re honest. We believe in hard work and I feel undermined. That he signed up for this and now wants to make fun of the sport,” he said. “It’s just terrible.”

Meanwhile, in a statement to ESPN, the NYSAC said: β€œThe Commission strictly prohibits the use of performance-enhancing drugs and works vigorously to uphold the integrity of sport and maintain a level playing field.

‘If violations are found, the Commission will take action.’
