Ryan Garcia has announced he will still fight WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney on April 20, despite his disturbing social media posts in recent days.
Since last week, several disturbing posts have been shared on Garcia’s social media pages, with the 25-year-old’s story appearing to claim he was raped by a family member at the age of two and has photographic evidence that aliens exist. Elon Musk is the Antichrist and that he has witnessed ‘human trafficking’ before.
Garcia sparked further fear in the boxing community on Sunday when a video was posted to his Instagram and cut’. The message also contained several satanic references.
A day later, Garcia himself took to social media to explain the situation, suggesting his phone had been hacked and he was being “taken advantage of” while reassuring fans that he is safe and sound.
His account then shared several since-deleted posts about demons and ‘UFOs’, before claiming he was being ‘heavily attacked’ and saying ‘before I go I want to release everything’, while also claiming his ‘own people were trying to kill him’ to the psychiatric ward’.

On Wednesday, the American vowed to refrain from non-boxing social media posts and underwent a boxing Q&A with fans on social media.
And when he posted to X early Thursday morning, he emphasized that his fight against Haney in Brooklyn next month is still on.
This is despite concerned fans and boxing insiders calling for the fight to be postponed due to his recent behavior.

Garcia’s latest posts also come after he shared his thoughts on his upcoming fight late Wednesday.
He said: ‘I, Ryan Garcia, will not speak, tweet or write anything other than My Fight, ‘Boxing’ and Sports. All topics of discussion will be discussed after my fight. 5 weeks of attention. You have my word, I’m locked up. I’ll see you between four and twenty.’
Garcia has previously spoken candidly about his struggles with mental health, admitting he had suicidal thoughts during a recent break from boxing.
After returning in 2022, he suffered his first professional defeat in an injury loss to bitter rival Gervonta Davis last year.
However, his opponent Haney is adamant their world title fight is still on and has accused Garcia of ‘acting crazy’ to promote their fight.

There is no love lost between the pair, who will clash in the ring for the seventh time next month after six amateur encounters, with a score of three apiece.

Meanwhile, Henry Garcia, the 24-1 fighter’s father, said on Sunday that while his son was just trolling followers, there were bigger issues at play.
His ex-wife, Andrea Celina, also claimed he “may seem fine, but he’s not,” amid concerns for his safety, while suggesting he is “severely oppressed.”
Garcia and Celina, who have two children together, announced their separation in January, just days after the birth of their second child.
