Ryan Garcia agrees to pay WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney $500K per POUND he is over the weight limit during Friday’s weigh-in as concerns over their clash continue

  • Ryan Garcia will pay Devin Haney £500,000 for every pound he is overweight on Friday
  • The pairs will face off on Saturday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn
  • However, there are concerns about whether the fight should and will take place

Ryan Garcia has agreed to pay WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney $500,000 per pound if he goes over the 140-pound limit at Friday’s weigh-in ahead of their fight on Saturday night.

The pair will face off on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, after a tumultuous build-up that saw fans calling for Garcia to be removed from the fight.

Garcia – who enters the fight with a 24-1 record after racking up 20 knockouts and losing to Gervonta Davis in April 2023 – has made headlines for his alarming activity on social media and in interviews.

Haney even shared his concerns about Garcia’s mental state, saying, “There’s something wrong with this son of a bitch” during Thursday’s press conference at the Barclays Center.

Bill Haney – Devin’s father, trainer and manager – wondered if Garcia would even make weight during the official weigh-in on Friday morning before the ceremonial weigh-in on Friday afternoon.

Garcia responded to Haney’s father, saying, “[Let’s bet] $500,000 [on whether I make the weight or not]. Come on, $500,000.”

“Okay, that’s a bet we’ll make,” Bill Haney responded to Garcia. “If you don’t gain weight, it’s $500,000.”

“It’s a bet,” Garcia replied before jokingly and smiling, chanting, “It’s a bet.” It’s a bet. It’s a bet. It’s a bet.’

Haney decided to take it a step further and said, “$500,000 a pound [over the agreed weight]. Hey, Ryan. Let’s do $500,000 a pound. Would you like to shake it?’.

Garcia agreed and the pair shook hands before continuing with the rest of the press conference in New York City.

Fans took to social media to express their concerns about Garcia’s mental state during Saturday night’s fight.

Earlier this week, Garcia posted that Australian porn star Savannah Bond had accepted his marriage proposal after filing for divorce from his wife Andrea Celina in January after she gave birth to their second child.

He raised his concerns on March 3 when a disturbing video claiming Garcia was dead after his “throat was slit” was shared on his social media accounts, marking the first of a series of disturbing posts from the boxer over the next 72 o’clock.

Garcia also claimed he was raped by a relative at the age of two, has photos of actual aliens and has witnessed the rape of children after they were tied up in the forest by “the elites.”

He then continued his bizarre tirade by claiming an earthquake will “destroy” Hollywood and Las Vegas, while calling X-chief Elon Musk the “Antichrist.”

As it stands, the fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Saturday evening will go on as planned.
