Sydney’s theater world is in mourning following the tragic death of a much-loved production runner.
Ryan Cuskelly, 30, died Saturday morning after a battle with a “severe and highly aggressive immunodeficiency disorder and virus.”
He took on dozens of roles during a decade-long career in theater, including work as a prop assistant, stagehand, usher and wardrobe assistant, and on television, where he worked on shows such as The Bachelorette and Big Brother.
His most recent job was as production runner for Amazon MGM Studios, where he worked on their upcoming crime thriller film, Play Dirty, starring Mark Wahlberg and shot in Sydney Harbour.
Mr Cuskelly’s colleagues in the film praised his “remarkable spirit, generosity and that infectious smile that no one will ever forget.”

Cuskelly’s partner shared the news of his death on Saturday, revealing he ‘fought so hard to the end’
“His warmth, friendliness and sense of humor made it a pleasure to work with him, and his absence will be deeply felt by all,” said a statement from his colleagues.

Cuskelly’s partner shared the news of his death on Saturday, revealing he had ‘fought so hard to the end’.
“In typical Ryan fashion, he was stubborn and outlived the doctor’s predictions,” she wrote.

“I couldn’t be more proud of him.”
She added: “Anyone who knew Ryan knew he was so beautiful, sweet and generous. Characteristics that we all want to be more like.’
His funeral will take place Monday June 10 in Sydney.
