Ryan Clark has come out to Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens amid heavy backlash over comments about his relationship with Simone Biles.

Earlier this week, Owens and Biles were on Clark's podcast “The Pivot,” where the Packers player talked about how they met in 2020. He admitted he wasn't aware of Biles' success as a gymnast when they first matched on dating app Raya. Owens also joked that he was the “catch” in their relationship, as Biles was the first to message him.

This caused a row as fans started bashing Owens over the clip. However, Clark took to social media on Sunday to show his support for Owens and Biles.

“Everyone is on it now and making something negative out of it,” Clark said in a video on X. “What people haven't done is watch the whole show. Watch him say she wasn't scared and when they finally went on a date, it was history.'

Or listen to him talk about their conversation in 2020 while she was at the Olympics, encouraging her that she would be okay. And when she didn't have the time that he took with her, didn't even get married during that time, and now Simone Biles is back to the Simone Biles that we know,” he added, referring to the gymnast's struggle with the ” Twisties' during the match. Covid has postponed the 2021 Tokyo Games.

“Instead of being happy for two people who are excited to be together, two people who support each other with all their hearts, we have now decided to pick apart one fragment instead of learning the whole story. The moral of the story is this: if Simone Biles is happy, why aren't you?'

Clark talked about how there was “so much love in their eyes” when Owens recounted the origins of their marriage, despite doing so in a humorous way.

He further reiterated how fans took the clip out of context to make Owens a villain.

“This is a couple who found their way to each other in a very unique way,” Clark continued.

“And just because you feel like he should worship gymnast Simone Biles doesn't mean you can't respect that he's in love with woman Simone Biles.”

Biles himself responded to the unnecessary backlash when fans urged Owens to “look more like Travis Kelce” after the clip circulated.
