Ruth Langsford launches uncharacteristically furious tirade and says she ‘won’t be shamed’ after she’s attacked by trolls
Ruth Langsford has hit back angrily at trolls who criticized her for promoting expensive food for Christmas.
The Loose Women star, 64, took to Instagram on Tuesday for a post in collaboration with Tesco, as she built her own deli board for the festive period.
Including cheeses, quiche, olives and meat, the TV presenter explained that all items were from the mainstream supermarket’s Tesco Finest range.
However, one fan in particular took offense to the promotional post when they wrote: “Do you ever think about the homeless while promoting expensive food and clothing.”
Hitting back at the accusatory comment, Ruth proved she isn’t afraid to speak her mind as she insisted she ‘won’t be shamed’.
She replied: ‘You have no idea what I do for or contribute to charities, so if you try to shame me it won’t work!’

Fans were quick to support the star, saying: ‘well said!’; ‘good for you, it’s best for them to unfollow you if it upsets them that much’;
“The same goes for all of us: why justify what we do?” Keep it up Rutte. Please follow it’;
‘what a ridiculously ill-informed comment’; ‘you tell them Ruthie’; ‘They must be summoned now! Enough is enough’.
Meanwhile, Tesco added: ‘We love this, Ruth! I hope you and your friends enjoyed it!’
As she showed the final result of the platter board, she said:Who else is OBSESSED with platterboards?! I tried making them for the first time and, if I say so myself, I’m quite happy with the results! I used lots of lovely bits and pieces from the Tesco Finest Deli range.
‘The best part? It’s all easy to find in the Tesco Deli store, and you get a 3 for 2 offer with your Clubcard!’
Other negative comments included: ‘Omg, don’t you have anything left to do, Ruth’;
Another took issue with the fact that she didn’t shop locally. They asked: ‘Why don’t you buy local products? Ah! I see! You were paid 4 figures to promote a stomach churning, profit making supermarket in a COL crisis! Who advises you Ruth? And where is your empathetic brain cell right now! You’re gone girl!’
Meanwhile, it was revealed last week that Ruth will travel to Australia later this month to appear on the I’m A Celeb spin-off show Unpacked, as she navigates the fallout from her split from husband Eamonn Holmes.
She will join the program in support of her co-star Jane Moore, 62, who is taking part in this year’s ITV series.

The trip comes as Eamonn, also 64, was seen publicly with his new partner, Katie Alexander, 43, while Ruth showed off a fresh look with blonde hair extensions.
A source revealed to The sun that the chance to take part in the spin-off show had been a welcome distraction for Ruth during a challenging year.
They said: ‘It’s been a tough year for Ruth and she has put her best foot forward. She’s thrilled to have been asked to appear on this spin-off show and fly to Australia before Christmas.
The insider added that Ruth is keen to support Jane, saying: ‘She supports Jane and can’t wait to share her thoughts on how she’s doing.
“The production team are extremely excited to have signed Ruth as they believe she will be fantastic and boost the new format.”
