Ruth Langsford and Holly Willoughby in another awkward exchange

Holly Willoughby and Ruth Langsford are forced to grin and bear their personal differences when they interact on ITV.

And on Monday, Holly, 42, and Ruth, 63, appeared via split screen when Holly asked Ruth what was coming up on Loose Women later in the day.

Ruth said they watched “awkward exchanges” between friends, which felt like a nod to what they’re going through.

Holly had started the conversation by saying, “What’s happening on the show today, Ruth?”

Ruth replied, “Can you spare four slices of that cake, Holly?” looking at one prepared for the show.

Eek! Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford was forced to tell nemesis Holly Willoughby they’re doing a segment about ‘awkward exchanges’ in another awkward live link moment on ITV on Monday

Tough times: Her words came about after Holly said, “What’s happening on the show today, Ruth?”

Ruth said, “Come on Loose Women, should you ever say who your partner is friends with…?”

And we’re talking awkward exchanges. Have you ever accidentally said “I love you” to the wrong person?”

She then said, “Today too, we’re asking, would you take love advice from a former cheat?” which is awkwardly timed after Phillip Schofield’s affair came to light.

In addition, Ruth was accused of not acknowledging Holly during another live moment on ITV last Tuesday.

The awkward moment was the second time the couple had an awkward moment that week, as Ruth was seen grinding her teeth the day before.

The interaction started when Ruth spoke to Holly’s co-host Josie Gibson, 38, and joked about how they both wore green outfits.

“We have the green memo Josie today. You look good!’ Ruth said.

However, during another part of the show, Ruth greeted Holly and Josie together – though fans didn’t seem to notice.

Keeping it professional: Holly hosted the show with Dermot O’Leary on the day and Ruth asked Holly if she could share her four slices of cake

Ruth later said, “Today too, we’re asking, would you take love advice from a former cheat?” which is awkwardly timed after Phillip Schofield’s affair came to light

Oh no! Last Tuesday, Ruth told Josie Gibson, “We have the green memo Josie today. You look great,” without addressing Holly — she did, however, greet her at another point in the show

Gritted teeth: The day before, viewers noticed the awkward moment Holly connected to Ruth live on air Monday after Ruth’s husband Eamonn Holmes brutally criticized both Holly and Phillip Schofield

And the day before. Holly was forced to share a bloodcurdling live link with Ruth, whose husband Eamonn Holmes has been outspoken in his criticism of the This Morning host and her former boyfriend Phillip Schofield.

Viewers cringed like Holly suggested Ruthwho is reportedly still close to the young showrunner with whom Schofield had an affair.

Sitting next to Josie and American singer and honorary frontman Adam Lambert, who was a guest on the couch, Holly said, “Let’s see what Loose Women are talking about today.” Hi there, Ruth!’

Ruth replied, “Yes, we love Adam Lambert too!” before blowing him kisses.

The exchange came after Ruth’s husband Eamonn reiterated and brutally criticized both Schofield and Holly in the wake of the scandal that swept This Morning.

He made allegations of a toxic culture on the show, saying the presenting pair were “using” people and both should have quit.

Tough time: The awkward moments keep coming after Phillip spoke to the BBC’s Amol Rajan about his affair with a much younger colleague that led to him losing his job

Stubborn: Eamonn, 63, called Holly and Phil “actors” and criticized Holly for her claim that she was “sad.” Schofield left the show
