Russian soldiers ‘killed in Ukrainian Himars attack’ after being ordered to wait for hours for pep talk

Dozens of Russian soldiers ‘killed in devastating Ukrainian Himars attack’ after being ordered to wait two hours for general’s pep talk

Dozens of Russian soldiers have reportedly been killed in a Ukrainian Himars missile strike after being ordered to wait two hours for a general to give them a pep talk.

Bloggers associated with the Russian military said the attack took place near the frontline in Ukraine’s Luhansk region on Wednesday morning. Telegraph reports.

It comes after confirmation that Ukraine has launched its counter-offensive against invading Russian forces, which currently control about 18 percent of the territory.

Rybar, a Russian military blogger, posted: ‘At Kremenna a tragic incident occurred in one of the divisions assembled there for an offensive.

“People stood in a crowd in one place for two hours waiting for the division commander to give his motivational speech.”

They went on to describe how the crowd was hit by “Ukrainian Himars and artillery” before the general’s arrival.

The city of Kreminna, spelled differently by the Russians, is currently under Russian control, but is a target for attack due to its location just 10 miles from the front line.

The number of casualties in the attack is unclear, although it is rumored to be significant, perhaps exceeding the figure from the fighting over the entire southern front line in recent days.

Reports suggest that more than 100 soldiers have been killed in a single attack, according to the Telegraph.

Russian sources on Telegram have blamed Major General Zurab Akhmedov, although the reasons for this remain unclear.

He is a controversial figure, accused last year by members of the 155 Marine Infantry of using Russian marines as “cannon fodder.”

In any case, the attack on Russian forces could represent a big step for Ukraine, as a sign that it has overcome Russian electronic warfare that had previously been used to jam their guidance systems.

The reports follow recent gains by Ukrainian troops, including the recapture of the village of Storozheve in the country’s Donetsk region.

Photos from Storozheve, which was liberated this week, show bodies scattered in fields and along the road, among burnt-out armored vehicles.

The gruesome scenes testify to the ferocity of the fighting as Ukrainian forces recaptured Storozheve and several other villages in recent days as part of a counter-offensive in southern and eastern Ukraine.

The village had been occupied by Russian troops since March 2022, a month after the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The soldiers said about 50 Russian soldiers were killed in a “clearance operation” and four were taken prisoner.

“Three days ago we liberated the village of Storozheve. You can see for yourself how it was achieved. You can see the destroyed hardware. Glory to Ukraine,” a Ukrainian soldier who only gave his name as Artem said.
