Russell Crowe reveals mysterious contract he had to sign before appearing on Joe Rogan podcast

Russell Crowe has revealed the contract he had to sign to appear on Joe Rogan’s top-rated podcast.

The Australian actor was a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience earlier this year and was told in advance that he would have to commit to a three-hour broadcast.

I’m speaking to Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa With Kate Ritchie on Monday, the 60-year-old actor said he was initially not keen on the terms.

“He says, ‘We’ll talk for about three hours.’ And I’m like, three hours? No, you don’t. That’s kind of ridiculous,” Crowe said.

“And then you get in there, and that’s exactly what he’s up to. But once you get there, you have to sign something that you’re not leaving until the conversation is over.”

Crowe said that Rogan has the ultimate call when the episode ends, and that he was at his mercy.

‘[The episode] is basically the length of a cigar,” the actor explained.

During the episode, Crowe got down to business and had a tough conversation with the controversial podcaster about politics.

He argued that the rise of independent politicians better represents the views of ordinary Australians, in contrast to the two-party dominated system in the United States.

The Oscar-winning actor made the claim in response to host Rogan’s complaint that Americans were “completely trapped in the two-party system.”

“We have a similar situation, but there’s something very interesting going on in Australia at the moment, which is the rise of independents,” Crowe countered.

‘The main parties have to deal with the fact that those independent parties have to bring a series of points into the discussion that do not align with the party line.

‘And it works well. It works for us. It forces both main parties to re-examine who they are and what they stand for.’

Rogan mused “we could definitely use that here,” highlighting how American politics is completely dominated by the Democratic and Republican parties.

There are other parties, including the Green, Libertarian and Reform parties, but they receive negligibly few votes in comparison.

Independent candidates can also run for office and have been known to perform well on occasion.

Crowe’s three-hour conversation with Rogan, which first aired in August, has recently resurfaced in teal ads on social media.

It comes after news that Russell will once again take on the Roman Empire, almost 25 years after starring in the original hit film Gladiator (2000).

Deadline reports that the New Zealand-born actor and director has signed on to star in The Last Druid.

William Eubank will direct, working from a screenplay he co-wrote with Phil Gawthorne and Carlyle Eubank.

The film will “tell the story of a Roman emperor who discovers a remote Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia,” the release said.

“A peaceful Celtic elder (Crowe) must take up arms to protect his family and people from destruction,” the synopsis reads.

The casting process is still ongoing, so more actors will be brought in in the coming weeks ahead of filming.

Ben Pugh produces with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger of Range Media Partners, along with Adrián Guerra, who also produces for Nostromo.

Felix Farmer’s Brandon Millan and Sam Wasson will executive produce alongside George Hsieh.

Crowe did not appear in the sequel, Gladiator II, which stars Paul Mescal as Lucius Verus, the former heir to the Roman Empire and son of Maximus, who was played by Crowe in the original.
