Russell Brand claims to have found God in the midst of Hurricane Milton in a video taken thousands of miles away from the eye of the storm.

A bizarre post on X shows the disgraced comedian in Miami, which is not in the path of the Category 3 hurricane.

Walking down a dark street, the 49-year-old begins an impetuous attempt to link the storm to his new, self-proclaimed Christian faith.

Brand says: “In the middle of this crazy storm in Florida – and I pray for those of you who are more directly affected by it – [it is] It’s worth thinking about how the metaphor of the storm affects us all.

“Like animals, I think we can sense that something unusual is happening and pray for the people of Tampa, Sarasota and all those elsewhere directly affected.

“I learned from Matthew that when the apostles were dealing with a storm, Peter first asks when he sees our Lord on the water, ‘Is that you?’ and you don’t get out of the boat until you know it’s Jesus , until you know that it is the Lord who says yes, come, he says yes and you can get out of the boat.

“But unlike Peter, when you are out of the boat, keep your eyes on the Lord, because if you take your eyes off Jesus, the storm may devour you.

Brand was accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse last year in a joint investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches programme, The Times and The Sunday Times.

He has strongly denied allegations about his conduct, which allegedly occurred at the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013.

Brand continues his speech on social media, describing the storm as evidence of God’s power.

“I suppose the storm is a demonstration of the almighty force that is beyond our control,” he says. “As a metaphor, it helps me understand that I need to listen to Christ and watch.”

Last month the 49-year-old was pictured performing a baptism in his underwear with the caption: “It may seem a little early to be baptizing people, but the apostles did it on the first day, so here we are.”

He also uploaded a video of himself interpreting the Bible, expressing his gratitude for God’s sacrifice.

It comes as Hurricane Milton continues to cut a path of destruction through Florida, killing several people and ripping through the roof of the Tropicana Field stadium as it heads toward Orlando and on to the Atlantic Ocean.

The first casualties were reported before Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm around 8:30 PM EST (1:30 AM BST), bringing ‘catastrophic’ flooding, 125mph winds and several tornadoes – some of which proved fatal.

After making landfall, Milton began rumbling eastward, tearing apart everything in his path before ripping apart the roof of Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team in St. Petersburg.

At least 117 tornado warnings were issued in communities across the state last night and this morning, dozens of which occurred and caused major damage.

More than 3 million homes and businesses were without power in Florida this morning.
