Rumors are swirling that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is getting a major upgrade that will please professional photographers

While Samsung has already unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6, the phones don’t go on sale until July 24. In the meantime, we’ve heard rumors of a significant upgrade for the new flip and foldable phones.

According to tipster @theonecid (through Android Authority) The Galaxy Z Flip 6 will support Samsung’s own Expert RAW app, which gives professional photographers more control over the look of their photos.

If true, it would mark the first time the advanced photos app has been supported by one of Samsung’s foldable phones, a series of phones that first hit the market in 2020.

Samsung hasn’t said anything about this yet, and it’s possible we won’t know for sure until the device is actually in users’ hands. At the very least, it would broaden the appeal of the foldable for those considering buying it.

The benefits of RAW

Professional photographers often work with RAW images when it comes to digital photos. This means that there is less automatic processing of the photo, so that it is captured in a ‘raw’ form without adjustments to brightness, contrast and the like.

The image you see on the screen when you take a photo with your phone is actually very different from what comes through the camera sensors. There are a number of adjustments being made in the background, for example to balance colours and adjust the exposure.

With RAW, it’s up to the photographer to edit all of that. Original RAW images may initially look poorly lit or unbalanced, but there’s more room to get a photo that looks exactly the way you want it to.

Additionally, unlike most image formats, RAW files are uncompressed, meaning they take up much more storage space. That means more raw data for users to work with. Expert RAW also offers more control over camera settings and zoom levels.
