Rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will change shape to make it more comfortable to hold

Now that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 are officially on the market, we can turn our attention to the next wave of Galaxy flagship phones. It looks like the most expensive Samsung Galaxy S25 model is getting a new look.

Well-known tipster @UniverseIce (through Android Authority) says the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will get an asymmetrical frame design, which is rounder at the back and straighter at the front, where the display is located.

This slight taper is apparently intended to make the phone more comfortable to hold, with the source adding that the middle bezel and edges have been made narrower, making the phone roughly the same width as the Samsung Galaxy S24 (so that would be 70.6mm instead of the S24 Ultra’s 79mm).

With the Galaxy S25 series expected to hit the market in January 2025, roughly six months from now, the design for the standard model, Plus model, and Ultra model have reportedly been finalized.

What we expect

We haven’t heard much about the Galaxy S25 phones so far, but that’s likely to change in the coming months. There’s already been talk of some of the Ultra model’s quad-rear cameras being in line for an upgrade.

We’ve also seen some unofficial front-facing renders of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, but they don’t tell us too much about what’s to come — from the front, at least, the phone looks pretty similar to this year’s model.

You can head over to our Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra review to see what we thought of the current model, and we were very impressed. Samsung will undoubtedly find a few areas for improvement, including in the processor department – the as-yet-unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is likely to steal the show.

Before we do all that, we first get a taste of what Google is working on for its own 2024 Android flagship phones: a launch event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, where the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro (and possibly more devices) will be revealed.
