Rumble Boxing’s Noah Neiman spills celebrity fitness and diet secrets

The celebrity trainer behind the fitness regimens of Justin Bieber, Kendall Jenner, and Rita Ora has revealed the secrets to their enviable physiques.

Noah Neiman, who created the famous boxing hub ‘Rumble’, has been working with high-profile names for nearly two decades.

Rumble is a 45 minute, 10 round total body cardio and strength workout built around specially designed teardrop punching bags that are filled with water.

Rumble has over 300 locations around the world, including Melbourne, Los Angeles and New York. The gym has just opened its doors to a new flagship in Sydney’s Bondi Beach.

Noah, 38, told FEMAIL that the biggest mistake people make when it comes to dieting is taking an “all or nothing” approach that does more harm than good in the long run.

“I went through a lot of ideas about my life and my fitness,” Noah told FEMAIL.

The gym owner admitted to focusing too much on counting calories and portion sizes several times throughout his life, saying the main thing that kept him on track was changing his mindset.

“That’s where a lot of people go wrong, they take an all or nothing approach — “I have to eat 100 percent super clean, if I fail it’s over for me and I’ll just fall off the wagon,” if it really it’s about finding balance.’

Noah follows the 80/20 rule when it comes to food because he believes food is an “extension of the life he wants to live” – and he doesn’t endorse diets like Keto or Atkins.

The top 3 tips from a professional boxer for a beginner

“You have to be bad at something before you are good, and you have to be good at it before you can be great”

“Most people want to get around the processes, they just want to start and be good, which is impossible”

“If a skill worth building was that simple, everyone would be a classical pianist or incredible on the guitar or something that requires discipline, repetition to get better”

“Eighty percent of my meals are super clean, lean cuts of meat, fish, potatoes, tons of protein, solid carbs, avocado oil, and good fatty acids,” he said.

“It’s about finding the balance that works for you and sticking to it.”

When it comes to exercise, Noah’s top tips are to focus on strength training — like squats, lunges, pushups, burpees — even if you only have 15 minutes a day.

“If I had 15 minutes to spare, I would do exactly what we do at Rumble, there’s no doubt about that: all the good things you’re going to do in terms of weight training to make your body strong and fit,” he said.

The famed trainer believes that boxing has grown in popularity because the activity is extremely powerful, rewarding and cathartic.

“At Rumble we call it ‘knuckle therapy,'” Noah revealed. “It’s one of the most primal instincts ingrained in our DNA.

“It gives so much strength to stand up straight, clench your fists and defend yourself.”

What is an 80/20 Diet?

The 80/20 diet rule is a guideline that suggests eating nutritious foods 80 percent of the time and saving the other 20 percent for a special treat.

It’s a healthy, less restrictive option compared to other strict diets.

It is extremely difficult and demotivating to follow a diet that prohibits all indulgences.

Denying yourself treats often can lead to overeating when it’s finally “allowed” (i.e. on the weekend) and throwing off the rest of your hard work.

Noah struggled through several career paths, including accounting, before finally landing in the fitness industry, and his rags-to-riches story saw him build his business from the ground up.

More than 500 people came to his first New York gym on opening day in 2017.

“I love that we can all train and train together,” said Noah.

“The sense of community that makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger is so important.”

Noah’s childhood and early adulthood were filled with martial arts and boxing lessons for their grounding effect.

“Growing up I had a lot of behavior problems — ADHD and oppositional defiant disorder,” he said.

“I didn’t want to take any medications, but found that they were always a little bit elevated by how I handled my physical body.

“I found over the course of my life that strength training combined with boxing was such an incredible workout for my body, mind and soul that I had to open a gym that embodied that ethos and philosophies.”
