Rugby League legend Glenn Lazarus puts Brisbane five-bedroom, three-bathroom family home up for sale for $2.15million

Former footy star Glenn Lazarus is selling the spectacular Brisbane home he built 30 years ago – and is eyeing offers of more than $2.15 million.

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom home is located in Mount Ommaney, on a huge 2,461 sqm block.

Lazarus, a five-time NRL premiership winner, bought the land across the road from coaching great Wayne Bennett – and near former teammates Allan Langer, Kevin Walters and Wendell Sailor.

β€œIt is in a beautiful place, hidden from the world,” Lazarus said News Corp.

‘Being in the public eye and always so busy, it was such a great oasis to come home and relax. I could literally turn off the world as soon as I got home.

‘I am very saddened by the sale. We built the house and lived there for almost 30 years. We raised our three beautiful children there and it holds many special memories for us.

‘We love the city of Brisbane and have thoroughly enjoyed the more than thirty years we have lived there.

‘Now our lives have come full circle after so many years. We moved back to Canberra to be with family, which is where my sporting career all started.”

The football legend explained that he originally decided to join the Broncos because of the friendship he built with Kevin Walters while playing in Canberra.

β€œI also met Chris Johns, Allan Langer, Kerrod Walters and Michael Hancock and became good friends while playing on the 1990 Kangaroo tour. It made the move from Canberra to Brisbane really special,” he said.

‘Mount Ommaney became Broncos central. Gene Miles, Kevin Walters, Allan Langer, Wendell Sailor and the Broncos staff all lived or lived in the area, and of course Wayne Bennett lived across the street.

‘Looking back, I think my 30th birthday party was quite iconic: everyone in the western suburbs, including across the river, was able to enjoy my surprise fireworks.

‘My absolute favorite memory is being with Tess and our three children, enjoying wonderful moments such as birthday parties on the tennis court with clowns, teaching the children to swim in the pool and celebrating Christmas on the balcony. Tess and I both cherish those memories.’

Lazarus and his wife hope that another family can now enjoy the estate as much as they did.

β€œWe have celebrated many grand finals, State of Origin games and Australian Kangaroo victories and raised three beautiful children,” they said.
