Ruby Tuesday Matthews speaks about the pressure to ‘bounce back’ following birth of third child

Byron Bay influencer Ruby Tuesday Matthews is candid about the pressure to “look good” shortly after giving birth.

The 27-year-old admitted she “hated her body” after welcoming her eldest son Rocket, but had learned to “be kind to herself” after the birth of her third child last month.

“I woke up this morning to a bunch of messages saying how amazing I would look if I just had a baby. So just a little reminder to mommies and new mommies to be kind to yourself,” she wrote on Instagram.

“All our journeys are different. I’m still 20kg heavier and taking each day as it comes,” she added.

Ruby also shared a photo of herself taken just four days after the birth of her son Rocket.

‘This was me for four days PP. I remember hating my body and the way I looked after having Rocket. I used to look in the mirror and cry. Change is hard, especially when you lose your old self (and wardrobe),’ she wrote.

“This time I am much more relaxed and I trust that my body will do if I feed it and eat completely healthy foods. Please be kind to yourself, there is no rush.’

Ruby continued: “When you become a mumma, you lose yourself completely and slowly build yourself into a stronger, wiser and more patient woman. It really is a blessing that is sometimes hard to see.”

Ruby welcomed her first child with fiancé Shannan Dodd, a daughter named Holiday Dodd, last month.

Ruby also shares sons Rocket and Mars with her ex-partner Ryan Heywood.

It’s unclear when exactly Ruby and Shannan started dating, but beloved Instagram photos of the couple appeared in May 2021.

In June of that year, the couple announced their engagement.
