Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s move to AC Milan ‘in doubt as Serie A side have reservations about 27-year-old Chelsea midfielder’s age’

  • Chelsea and Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s entourage are in talks with Milan
  • During his nine-year stay in West London, the player made 155 appearances
  • The Rossoneri are now considering going for a younger midfielder instead

Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s move to AC Milan is reportedly questionable as the Italian team has reservations due to the midfielder’s age.

The Englishman would have already reached an agreement with the Rossoneri but Gianluca DiMarzio now claim the Serie A side has pumped the brakes.

Chelsea were waiting for a £21 million price tag for the 27-year-old, but Milan are now questioning whether he is too old, despite being an age considered the best for a footballer.

According to Italian outlet Loftus-Cheek, “Management was not convincing due to an investment problem related to age.”

Loftus-Cheek was believed to be their priority signing in the center of the park.

A long-term injury to long-time stalwart Ismael Bennacer has left midfield numbers thin, and the Algerian is expected to be out until the end of the year with a serious knee injury.

Following Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle on the final day of the season at Stamford Bridge, Loftus-Cheek appeared to bid the crowd farewell and raise his arms to the fans after the final whistle.

He wouldn’t be the first Chelsea star to make the move to San Siro, as former team-mate Fikayo Tomori swapped blue for red-black in 2021.

Reports state that the entourage Loftus-Cheek – who has been capped 10 times by England – is in talks with both AC Milan and Chelsea over the player’s future.

While the West London side are believed to be steadfast in their appreciation of the midfielder, the initial bid from the Champions League semi-finalists falls far short of that.
