Ruben Amorim admits he is uncomfortable with the tribute song Manchester United fans have for their new head coach.
Supporters have been chanting Amorin’s name to the tune of Give it Up by KC and the Sunshine Band since his first match away at Ipswich last month.
But the 39-year-old was a little shy when asked about Wednesday’s match against Arsenal at the Emirates, saying he would prefer it if fans sang for the players instead.
“I don’t like my singing,” Amorim said. ‘I feel a bit ashamed, but because I am the coach, they have to sing for the players and for the club. So it’s not a good thing for me.
‘I really understand and appreciate the bond with the supporters, but I want them to support the team and the players, because they are on the pitch and I am off the pitch.
‘But I’m really honored by it. I feel a bond with the supporters, but we know we need results to maintain that.’

He says he would rather hear the fans singing for the players and the club than for himself
Amorim attended a staff meeting at Old Trafford on Wednesday where he was once again reminded of the size of the club he has joined.
“We had a meeting with all the staff, trying to connect everyone, the sports department, this facility (Old Trafford), the people away from Carrington,” Amoirm said.
“We’re trying to build a connection to get a little closer, Carrington and the stadium, that was the reason.
‘The pedigree, the size of the club, we have to take advantage of that. It is an important point for us, where we also improve the other things, the connection with everyone, to put this club where it needs to be.’
