Ruben Amorim has dropped a big hint as to whether Man United will pursue Viktor Gyokeres after the striker put in another stunning performance for Sporting Lisbon.
The Swede continued his stunning form under Amorim as the Sporting head coach oversaw a 4-1 win over Man City in his final home match prior to his move to Man United.
Phil Foden had put Man City ahead in the fourth minute, before Gyokeres replied with three goals (two from the penalty spot) to inspire Sporting’s shock win.
There has been much discussion about the former Brighton and Coventry striker due to his good goalscoring form and some have suggested that Amorim may want to bring him to Old Trafford.
Now the Portuguese boss has broken his silence on the matter and revealed when he expects Gyokeres to leave Sporting.

Ruben Amorim then dropped a hint about the Swedish international’s future at the club
Speaking after the match, said A BolaAmorim said, “If I start making jokes about this Gyokeres situation, I’m going to get in trouble.
“This is my city, this is my country, so I will respect it. Viktor has to stay until the end of the season and then his life will probably go somewhere else.’
Although a move for the Sweden international appears to be off the table in January, Amorim appeared to hint that he could launch a summer move for Gyokeres.
Earlier in the evening, United legend Rio Ferdinand Gyokeres tipped to follow Amorim to United after his stunning hat-trick against the Red Devils’ local rivals.
“The recruitment teams at every club in the Premier League are probably scratching their heads at how they let him get away,” Ferdinand said.
‘He didn’t have a conventional route, his route to the top was not easy.
“He was at Brighton as a kid, sold to Coventry, loaned out to Swansea, comes back to Coventry and does well, then goes to Sporting Lisbon.
Gyokeres’ total at Sporting now stands at 63 goals in 66 games

‘He has had a journey in which he has had to build himself up and create what he is today.
“You think, ‘How did he get out?’, all of a sudden when you see what he has, maybe he’s grown into what he is, the confidence, the stature he has, the physicality he could have had to wait until that happens.
“Today he blew away from players a few times, keeping people away.”
The hat-trick took Gyokeres’ season tally to 23 goals in 17 games this season, while his total with Sporting now stands at 63 in 66 games.
