Royal rumble! Kate and Wills enjoy a Nerf battle with Louis, George and Charlotte as Louis yells ‘Nerf or nothing, let’s do this!’ amid the toy guns and smoke bombs and playful Princess of Wales herself gets involved in fun shoot-out

There was a lot of commotion within the royal family last weekend when the Prince and Princess of Wales took on their children in a Nerf battle.

Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and six-year-old Prince Louis joined in the festivities at the Gone Wild Festival at Holkham Hall, Norfolk, for an intense Nerf war involving toy guns and smoke bombs.

An excited and ‘unforgettable’ Louis ran around shouting ‘Nerf or nothing, let’s do this!’, according to Georgina Barron, boss of Norfolk Nerf Parties.

The Princess of Wales, who is battling cancer, even “picked up a Nerf gun, ran around and played in the mud with her children,” Ms Barron added. She called hosting the family “the greatest honour” and “unforgettable”.

Ms Barron said the royals, who were not pictured at the event, wanted to enjoy a “wholesome family day like any other normal family”. Kensington Palace has been approached for comment.

The Gone Wild Festival attracts 640 children each day, but last weekend there was a “very special VIP family” joining in the fun, Ms Barron said.

“I was called into the production team office and was told that a very special VIP family had requested to play Nerf Wars,” Ms. Barron recalled.

‘The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their three children, arrived with friends and family. They asked if we could provide some intense, non-stop Nerf fun, and of course Norfolk Nerf did what we do best.’

She says the Waleses, along with her own family and other members of the audience, ran around with Nerf guns and smoke bombs.

“My sons Euan Barron, Jenson Barron and Junior Barron had the ultimate honour of playing Nerf Wars with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and the adorable Prince Louis,” she said.

“The Princess of Wales grabbed a Nerf gun, ran around and got stuck in the mud with her kids. Prince Louis happily shouted, ‘Come on, Nerf or nothing. Let’s do this!’ I’m still in awe of what an unforgettable experience we had.”

Shell Lancaster, who was also at last weekend’s festival, said she saw William and Kate helping their children “go down the wall”.

Ms Barron added that the Nerf warriors “had face paint on” and were all “running around together”. They also played the children’s game of tag stuck in the mud.

She revealed that the family “didn’t want any protocol” and “just wanted a healthy family day, like any other normal family.”

The owner of the small business says it was a day “my boys will never forget” and has given her “warmest regards” to the royals.

News of the family outing comes just days after the Waleses sent a heartfelt message to British Olympians ahead of the end of the Paris Olympics last weekend.

In a rare appearance for the Princess of Wales, who is undergoing cancer treatment, the royal couple enlisted a number of stars, including Snoop Dogg, for their uplifting surprise message.

Kate beamed in the 80-second Instagram video as Willem stood by her side and had an unusually rough appearance and appeared unshaven.

In the short clip, Kate said: “From everyone watching at home, congratulations to Team GB.”

The Prince of Wales, wearing an official blue Team GB shirt, added briefly: “Well done Team GB, you are an inspiration to us all.”

Kate was last seen in public in June, at Trooping of the Colour.

The Princess of Wales announced in March that she was in the “early stages” of preventive chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer.

Before Trooping the Colour in June, she said she was making “good progress” but that she still had a few months of chemotherapy to go and was “not out of the woods yet”.
