Royal jeweler Halcyon Days is raising the alarm over net zero
Politicians’ desperation to reach net zero is holding Britain’s manufacturing industry back, says Halcyon Days boss.
Pamela Harper, whose luxury brand companies are favored by the royal family, says there needs to be relief for businesses like hers that have high energy costs.
The government would like companies to swap fossil fuels for electricity generated from renewable energy sources.
But Halcyon Days uses energy-consuming, gas-fired kilns to produce fine porcelain and handmade enamels.
It also makes jewellery, such as a £150 Salamander Toque bracelet worn by the Princess of Wales during her carol concert.
She said: “We need some relief through our National Energy Strategy, which I think is being pushed far too quickly to reach net zero. We need more small nuclear power, we need hydrogen.
