Detectives have launched a desperate public appeal after a young child was found with serious injuries in Hobart.
Tasmanian Police were called in to investigate on Friday after paramedics found the child at an address in Warrane about 1.10am.
On Saturday, detectives revealed they believe the child was injured in a “serious assault” but warned the investigation is expected to take “some time.”

“Police were called to the Royal Hobart Hospital at around 5.20am… after a child suffered serious injuries that are believed to be suspicious,” a spokesperson said.
The child is in critical condition in hospital.
“Police, including CIB, forensics and uniform officers, continue to investigate and conduct investigations,” a police statement said.
