The burly kilt-wearing army officer and equerry to King Charles has made hearts flutter once again after being spotted at tonight’s royal carol concert.

As the Prince and Princess of Wales headed to Westminster Abbey for today’s festive performance, some fainted at the sight of an officer seen in the background of the photographs.

Major Jonathan Thompson of the 5th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland could be seen standing behind Kate as he smiled for the cameras in front of a snow-covered Christmas tree.

Commander Jonathan Thompson, 39, was seen in Westminster Abbey tonight behind the princess.

The officer, once the Queen’s highest-ranking bodyguard, has found himself increasingly in the spotlight following King Carlos III’s ascension to the throne.

The man known to his friends as ‘Johnny’ was front and center policing Charles’s first public outing as Monarch.

He also accompanied Prime Minister Liz Truss to meet the King at Buckingham Palace before his resignation.

The major is often seen in a thick tartan kilt with a large fur sporran and several medals pinned to his uniform.

The eldest was Her Majesty’s most senior bodyguard during her reign as monarch.

The hunk met Prime Minister Liz Truss outside Buckingham Palace before her first audience with the new King.

But to the disappointment of his fans, Major, 39, has been married to Caroline, 44, for about 12 years.

Together they have a four-year-old son and two Labradors known as Odin and Piper in Surrey.

Although most people think that Major Thompson is Scottish, he was actually born in Morpeth, Northumberland.

In 2006, he joined the military as a platoon commander, according to his LinkedIn.

His profile also reveals how he attended Aberystwyth University graduating in 2004 with a BA in Economics and Politics with International Studies.

For the past two years it is said that he has been working as the King’s equerry.

Major Johnny Thompson was seen standing behind Prince Harry and Megan as they attended the National Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June this year.

Today’s Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey is held in recognition of the selfless efforts of UK communities.

The concert will take place on the same day the final three episodes of the explosive Prince Harry and Meghan Markle documentary on Netflix were released.

Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace declined to comment on the series.
