Prince William and his two eldest children were spotted proudly performing their dance moves during a Taylor Swift performance last week. Before taking the stage, they took a selfie with the singer that has since gone viral.
But now it appears William and his daughter Princess Charlotte are competing to see who is the star’s biggest fan.
Speak with ANDRoyal expert Katie Nicholl has given insight into the unlikely friendship between the Prince of Wales and the American queen of pop.
She said that while Princess Charlotte is considered the royals’ biggest Swiftie, her father might be a close competitor considering his history with the 14-time GRAMMY Award winner that predates her birth.
Katie said the The 34-year-old hitmaker The and 42-year-old William “have a great bond” and that “they are good friends.”
The trio of royals took a viral selfie with Taylor before the show last week, a rare occurrence for the singer who never meets fans — no matter how famous — backstage before one of her Eras performances.
Prince William and his two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, took a selfie with Taylor before her performance in London last Friday
Prince William previously appeared on stage with Taylor Swift and Jon Bon Jovi at a charity concert in 2013 – the trio are seen here performing Bon Jovi’s hit Livin’ On A Prayer (pictured)
A source told the Mail’s Richard Eden that the meeting was initiated by the Blank Space singer, saying: ‘Taylor Swift was keen to meet the Prince of Wales while she was in London. They already know each other, so the meeting made sense.’
William and Taylor first met in 2013 at the Centrepoint Gala Dinner at Kensington Palace in London.
During the evening in 2013, the two were on stage with Bon Jovi singing his famous Livin’ on a Prayer. They were photographed beaming as they sang the lyrics to the song as they skipped across the stage.
Katie, who attended the famous karaoke night, said the evening was the perfect start to what would become a long and glorious friendship.
She added, “There’s clearly a beautiful connection between these two. But William is not only a fan of Taylor, he is also a huge fan of her music.”
And the affection is not one-sided. For William’s 42nd birthday, Taylor dedicated an entire grid post to congratulating the Prince on his birthday, including the selfie they took together before one of her Wembley performances.
The post was extra special because Taylor’s Instagram account normally consists only of professional photos from her Eras shows.
The Karma singer captioned the photo: “Happy Bday M8! The shows in London got off to a fantastic start and quickly amassed almost 10 million likes.
William reportedly told Ronnie Wood he would only go to a Rolling Stones concert if they brought Taylor along. He also reportedly danced enthusiastically in the audience to Shake It Off on Friday.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl said the pair have a ‘great bond’ and the Prince of Wales could be the biggest Swiftie in the family
A second source told ET that Princess Charlotte was the driving force behind the meeting and is the family’s biggest Swiftie.
The source said Charlotte loved the performance and that all three children understand the value of appreciation and knew how lucky they were to meet the American singer.
After the performance, the family posted a special selfie on Kate and William’s official Instagram page, captioning it: “Thank you @taylorswift for an amazing night! #LondonTSTheErastour.”
However, Katie pondered who could be the biggest Swift fan, suggesting William could be a close competitor.
The affection exists on both sides of the coin. Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce, who was also there backstage when the British royals indulged in their VIP meeting with the pop singer.
The Kansas City Chiefs player is even more excited about the Royals than his girlfriend, who sings with Blank Space. The Kelce brothers recorded an entire five-minute segment raving about the Royals on the latest episode of their New Heights podcast.
The sports star even commented that “no other prince” does it like William, and praised the royal family for their down-to-earth nature.
During the event at Kensington Palace in 2013, the two sat together and seemed at ease with each other. The initial closeness would lead to a close friendship between the two

“We met royalty, guys,” Travis said. “There was royalty at the show. I was lucky enough not to be in traffic, so I got there early and got to meet Prince William. How’s that? Your Royal Highness.
“Dude, he was the coolest motherfucker,” he added. “He was so cool.”
“He was great,” Jason echoed his brother’s sentiments. “He was a good guy.”
He later added, “They were great people, and that’s what matters. They are part of a monarchy. [it’s] hard to be a sober person i suppose. But [they] came across completely that way.’
Travis, who also made headlines this weekend for making a cameo on stage with Taylor, was enthusiastic: ‘Tay brought him out of his shell, they brought him out and said he had a great time.
And then I think, I don’t know if there are other princes who do that, you know what I mean?
‘As royalty, it seems like they like to be in the shadows of the show, but he was cool enough to be a part of it. That just shows how handsome he is!’
The brothers again praised William for his parenting skills and said meeting Princess Charlotte was the “highlight” of the evening.
‘If anyone does it right, it is Prince William. Thank you, Your Royal Highness,” Travis praised.
The footballer’s comments about William’s obvious joy at joining the Swifties come as a stark comparison to Prince Harry and Meghan’s relatively miserable performance at a Beyoncé concert last September.
Meghan was spotted dancing the night away during the Cowboy Carter singer’s Renaissance tour in California. However, Prince Harry didn’t seem too impressed by this. He looked at his phone as the party continued around him.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were among the thousands of fans who gathered at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
But Harry appeared somber and disinterested as the couple was spotted in a private box, along with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland and Meghan’s Suits co-star and close friend Abigail Spencer.
