Royal Caribbean cruise horror as passenger dies after ‘jumping’ from enormous Icon of the Seas ship

A Royal Caribbean passenger has died after jumping from the world’s largest cruise ship.

The unidentified man jumped more than 80 feet from the massive Icon of the Seas shortly after it took off from Florida on Sunday.

He was on the first night of a week-long trip to Honduras.

“The cruise ship deployed one of their rescue boats, located the man and brought him back on board,” the Coast Guard told the New York Post.

“He was declared deceased. Other than assisting with the search, the U.S. Coast Guard did not have much involvement in this incident.”

According to CruiseHive, the ship was about 300 miles from PortMiami when the man jumped.

The ship was shut down for about two hours while the crew assisted with the search and rescue mission.

Passengers shared images of the rescue on social media as the search continued.

The man was in critical condition when he was returned to the ship where he was pronounced dead.

The 300-meter Icon of the Seas made its maiden voyage in January.

It can accommodate 7,600 passengers and 2,350 crew members.

A passenger who shared footage of the rescue crew said on X: ‘Now on Icon of the Seas.

‘Someone jumped/fell overboard and now a Search & Rescue is taking place. Small chance that they will be found. Keep your loved ones close, guys.”

In April, a 20-year-old man jumped overboard from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in front of his shocked family.

The 18-story Liberty of the Seas was traveling between Cuba and Grand Inagua Island in the Bahamas when the shocking incident occurred.
