ROYAL ASCOT DAY FOUR TIPS: Britain’s top tipster Sam Turner makes his selections for seven races

2:30 PM: CARLA’S WAY did a lot wrong in Doncaster on debut but still stretched to win comfortably and looks like one of many potential class acts on display here. Runner up Star Of Mystery next won by 11 lengths to improve form and the sire of the selection boasts a good track record on this track so she gets the votes over NAVASSA ISLANDPorta Fortuna and Jabaara.

GOODFELLOW’S CHOICE: CARLA’S WAY

MAIN DANGER: NAVASSA ISLAND

3.05: LITTLE BIG BEAR put his sprinting career back on track with a smooth win at Haydock last time and was touted as the Ballydoyle banker of the week. It’s debatable whether his price deserves to be so low, but he bravely won the Windsor Castle Stakes here 12 months ago and is capable of brilliance. LEZOO has been beaten just one in four at six furlongs and looks to be a key player as she returns to Ascot.

GOODFELLOW’S CHOICE: LEZOO

MAIN DANGER: LITTLE BIG BEAR

Tahiyra is the favorite to win the Coronation Stakes but can be challenged by Mediate

3.40 pm: The decision to castrate TEUMESSIAS VOS seems to have worked the oracle, with Lope De Vega’s son winning both of his starts at Kempton and Newmarket. The squad was handicapped here last summer when he couldn’t get a free pass in the straight, but a year later he can be reimbursed. There are more unexposed horses than HMS CHAIRMAN and this trip could be a little on the short side, but his track record suggests he should be fine again.

GOODFELLOW’S CHOICE: TEUMESSIAS VOS

MAIN DANGER: HMS PRESIDENT

4:20 PM: TAHIYRA features push-button acceleration and, with that in mind, hopes to win this event outright. The ability to go twice as fast in a race is rare, but Siyouni’s daughter shows off that ability and it could be the trait that once again sets Chris Hayes’ horse apart from its old adversary. MEDITATE, ridden today by Ryan Moore. The pair met last season in the English and Irish Guineas, as well as the Moyglare at the Curragh, and the score is 3-0 to Tahiyra. There should be more to come from Queen For You, but she needs to improve significantly based on the evidence from her two starts to date.

GOODFELLOW’S CHOICE: TAHIYRA

MAIN DANGER: MEDITATE

Derby runner-up King of Steel should be a contender in the penultimate race of the day

5:00 am: Victory for Tahiyra, or to a lesser extent Meditate or Comhra, in the previous race would advertise the claims of JACKIE OH here, given that she was a creditable fifth in the Irish Guineas, less than six lengths behind the impressive winner. Galileo’s daughter didn’t enjoy the cleanest of runs on the Curragh and for the first time seems able to make her presence felt in a handicap. DREAM OF LOVE didn’t shoot in the Guineas, but this is a more appropriate assignment.

GOODFELLOW’S CHOICE: JACKIE OH

MAIN DANGER: DREAM OF LOVE

5:35 pm: Trust that Derby runner-up KING OF STEEL recovered from his exertions three weeks ago may not be for everyone at such a low price. However, he was unlucky to run into a colt of a class at Epsom and the pace he showed to break open the Derby could leave his rivals behind. Judgment found the fast ground against him in the Derby and was able to bounce back, but ARTISTIC STAR ran an incredible race to take seventh despite being disconnected at one point and he is arguably the biggest threat.

GOODFELLOW’S CHOICE: KING OF STEEL

MAIN DANGER: ARTISTIC STAR

6.10: RHYTHM N HOOFS has yet to win from a synthetic course, but horses that perform in all weather tend to like the Ascot right away, so it’s a prudent choice here. Although they were beaten last time at York, the selection was hardly disgraced. WALBANK gets one last chance with the blinders added as he lost just a few lengths in the Norfolk Stakes last year.

GOODFELLOW’S CHOICE: RHYTHM N HOOVES

MAIN DANGER: WALBANK

Racegoers will be looking for winners in the seven races contested at Royal Ascot on Friday

The Wizard of Chances

MARBAAN and THE XO (3.05) – Little Big Bear dominates the market after its win at Sandy Lane, so value seekers may prefer a game both ways on two horses that came out well at Ascot last month in the trial for this race. 33-1 and 66-1

HMS PRESIDENT (3.40) – Four trips to Ascot have brought figures of 4242 for the six-year-old, who looks set to improve this season ahead of a move to Alan King’s stable. Newmarket’s win on his last start was a career best and his profile suggests he is a good bet. 25-1

ROCKET RODNEY (6.10) – Much needed its first run at York but had the quality to finish a close second behind Little Big Bear in the Windsor Castle Stakes 12 months ago so could be worth a bet either way in handicap business for the first time . 28-1

The Coronation Stakes will be the feature race on Thursday day four at Royal Ascot

The Placepot Mole – looking for winners

The Tote Placepot involves selecting a horse to finish in races one through six, with a chance of winning a big payout for a small stake. All money wagered goes into a pool which, after deductions, is divided among the winners.

Choosing more than one horse per race will increase the number of bets or permutations you have.

You multiply the number of selections per race to calculate how many lines your bet consists of.
