Roy Keane tells Alejandro Garnacho to celebrate scoring for Man United ‘or get a job somewhere else’ after star’s muted reaction to Leicester wonder goal
Roy Keane has insisted Alejandro Garnacho should celebrate scoring goals for Manchester United after his subdued reaction to the goal against Leicester City.
Garnacho helped Man United to a 3-0 win over the Foxes on Sunday, cutting inside before curling a fine effort into the top corner from the edge of the box.
The 20-year-old reacted subdued to his effort, with captain Bruno Fernandes revealing after the match that the Argentine believes he has lost the support of the supporters.
“Garnacho scored a banger but didn’t celebrate as he should because he thinks he has lost the trust of some fans,” Fernandes told the BBC. “I told him that people will always moan, but a lot of people like you and enjoy what you do.
‘I told him to celebrate, it was something special. He is a special player and we have difference makers. They are the ones who win games for us.

It came after he had a tense altercation with a Man United fan ahead of a Europa League match
“We want them to score every game, but that’s not going to happen.”
Garnacho’s lack of celebration came after he was involved in a frosty exchange with a fan ahead of the midweek Europa League match against PAOK.
The fan – known as YouTuber Planet Faz – told the Argentine that he is not passing on enough to teammates and gave two other pieces of advice.
He said, ‘Garnacho, you have to succeed better today, please. Pass better today, score a goal and also work on your first touch, right?’
After meeting the other fans, the winger turned to Planet Faz, who are filming the meeting, and gave a cheeky response.
“Why don’t you play a man?” he asked before walking away.
The YouTuber appeared to chuckle to himself before saying, “He didn’t like that, did he?”
And former Man United captain Keane claimed there was something ‘drastically wrong with this game’ if players choose not to celebrate.

Keane suggested Garnacho consider ‘getting a job elsewhere’ if he can’t celebrate
He claimed that Garnacho should consider looking for a job elsewhere if he cannot enjoy scoring for Man United.
“If you can’t celebrate a goal then there’s something drastically wrong with this game,” Keane said on the Stick to Football podcast, brought to you by Sky bet.
‘Whatever happens off the field for any player – it could be family matters – you work all week, you play the game to score a goal.
‘When you score a goal, you don’t have to think about anything else. You’ve got fans who have traveled and paid fortunes to get there, and he’s talking about people trying to get him.
‘People make sacrifices to travel to watch Manchester United. He scores a brilliant goal, they are struggling – and if a younger player can’t enjoy scoring a goal for Man United then look for a job elsewhere.”
However, Garnacho’s lack of celebration was defended by Ian Wright, who suggested the 20-year-old forward is ‘going on a journey’ in the match.
The former Arsenal star insisted Garnacho was likely influenced by the fan criticism and angry play.
However, Keane suggested Garnacho should be able to separate the pressure off the pitch and enjoy finding the back of the net for Man United.

‘He is [Alejandro Garnacho] probably due to pressure from external sources,” Keane added.
“Every player is under pressure from family, for tickets, your performance, your fitness, your contract – there’s all kinds of pressure on players, but for that moment, or for that weekend where you’ve scored a goal, you should go,” No matter what happens in the rest of my life, when it’s over tonight, I’m going to enjoy this moment.”
Garnacho is currently Man United’s top scorer this season with seven goals, three more than any other player.
The forward is now on international duty with Argentina, with the national team facing Paraguay and Peru in the World Cup qualifiers during the international break.
Garnacho returns to a new era at Man United, with Ruben Amorim taking charge as head coach following his move from Sporting Lisbon.
Amorim takes over the Man United team, which is in thirteenth place in the Premier League, with only fifteen points from the first eleven games.
