Roy Keane had his ITV colleagues laughing during his coverage of Manchester City’s FA Cup win over Arsenal, after suggesting that Pep Guardiola should ‘smile more’.
ITV pundits had been discussing Guardiola’s pre-match interview with reporter Gabriel Clarke, where the Manchester City boss refused to comment on Arsenal’s squad selection.
Guardiola had suggested that the question about Arsenal’s six changes for the fourth round tie should be directed to his counterpart and former assistant Mikel Arteta.
Roy Keane encouraged Pep Guardiola to smile more after his pre-match interview.
He also gave guarded responses about his friendship with Arteta as the pair went head-to-head in the FA Cup and for the Premier League title.
The interview ended with Guardiola stating that he is “more than welcome”, when asked if he would have a drink with the Arsenal manager after the match.
Guardiola’s responses were questioned in the ITV studio, with presenter Mark Pougatch saying: ‘He wasn’t much of a talker, was he? And that was Gabriel being nice. What was all this about?’

The expert tried to stifle a smile of his own after delivering the one line sentence.
“Seemed like hard work for him, didn’t it?” Ian Wright replied. “It’s funny because I never listen to any of those interviews…
Pep always looks like someone who doesn’t want to be doing them. It’s really weird because I thought Gabe was in good shape. He wasn’t being nasty.
Keane then commented: “I think Pep should smile a bit more”, before adding “and that comes from me”, with the pundit acknowledging his no-nonsense reputation.
The one-liner from the former Manchester United captain drew laughter from his two colleagues in the studio.
Manchester City beat their title rivals 1-0 to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Defender Nathan Ake’s goal in the second half made the difference between the two teams, as Guardiola’s side progressed to the next round.
Keane was often cutting after the game, admitting he was disappointed by Arsenal’s performance against Guardiola’s side.

The head of the city has stated that the victory will have no relation to the title race.
Arsenal have a five-point lead over the defending champions at halfway through the campaign.
The rivals will meet in the Premier League in February and April in what promise to be two vital clashes in the battle for the title.
