Roy Keane praises Man United duo Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes for ARGUING after Carabao Cup final

Roy Keane was pleased to see a discussion between Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes after Manchester United’s Carabao Cup win as he felt it ‘means they care’.

Erik ten Hag’s side won at Wembley on Sunday after first-half goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford, but that didn’t stop the Brazilian, a five-time Champions League winner, from calling on one of his teammates.

Fernandes had a good chance to make it 3-0 in the final moments, but his shot was deflected by Loris Karius.

The 28-year-old had options on both sides when he took the shot, including Jadon Sancho in a good position, which Casemiro angrily pointed out to him after the final whistle.

For Keane, the incident showed United were in a good place, as he told Sky Sports: “I like to argue, whatever they’re discussing means they care.”

Casemiro, who scored United’s first goal in the final, chastised Bruno Fernandes after the final whistle for missing Jadon Sancho in the dying minutes.

Their argument didn’t seem to last long as both players beamed before lifting United’s first trophy in six years.

Winger Jadon Sancho also took time out of the post-match celebrations to mock Fernandes for his massive miss as the team celebrated with Man United fans inside Wembley.

The 22-year-old paraded around his United teammates using the Sky Sports selfie camera and grabbed Fernandes for some advice.

Sancho joked: ‘The next time you pass eh’.

Fernandes, with a cheeky smile, laughed off the criticism, responding, “Next time, next time.”

Roy Keane said he liked to see United players arguing because “it means they care”.

Newcastle’s defeat meant their wait for a first domestic trophy since 1955 continues, but for United it was indicative of a remarkable turnaround under Erik ten Hag.

After a disastrous start to their league campaign which saw the Red Devils beaten by Brighton and Brentford in their first two games, United won 15 of their next 22, picking up just three more defeats.

It means they are still in the running for an unlikely quadruple, with the Carabao Cup already in the bag.

United face West Ham in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday, while they also advanced to the Europa League round of 16 and find themselves just eight points behind league leaders Arsenal.
