Roy Keane has opened up about the terrible first date he had with Theresa Doyle, his wife of more than two and a half decades.
The couple have been married since 1997 and have five children and two grandchildren together.
But it all started with a disastrous 15-minute date while the Ireland international was at Nottingham Forest in the early 1990s, before moving to Man United where he became captain.

On The Tommy Tiernan Show, Keane, now 51, opened up about his love life three decades ago, when he wasn’t interested in “chasing women.”
He admitted that his first time with Theresa didn’t go well, because he made the rookie mistake of not planning what they would do together after he picked her up at Nottingham Forest stadium.
Keane said: ‘It was very bad. We met, I picked her up at City Ground in Forest and we went out for a walk. I said: ‘Do you feel like going to the cinema?’ Because at least in the photos you can only see the movie, you don’t have to chat too much, and she said no!

She said, “No, I went last night with my friends.” And I said, “Well, there are other movies.”
‘I said ‘do you want to go for a drink’ and she said no…I literally got back in the car, this was all in 10, 15 minutes and she was like, ‘What are you doing?’
‘I said, ‘Well, you don’t want to go for a drink, you don’t want to go to the movies, what else can we do?’
‘and she came out [of the car]I said, “Could I see you next week?” She said, “I don’t think so” and closed the door.
‘That was our first date and we’re still married!’
The former Man United captain turned pundit has been cautious about his personal life before.
There’s no telling how Keane managed to turn such a bitter end to their first date around, but they’ve already been married for over 25 years after marrying when he was at Manchester United.
The soccer pundit has previously been guarded about her personal life, even jokingly removing her from a birthday tribute posted to Instagram in December 2021.
Their children are Shannon, Caragh, Aidan, Leah and Alanna, and they also have a granddaughter and a grandson.
