Roy Keane praised Manchester United for their mentality after their dramatic FA Cup quarter-final victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford.
In a match awash with momentum swings, Harvey Elliot restored Liverpool’s lead after Antony came off the bench to send the match into extra time.
However, the drama was yet to come in the match and Marcus Rashford appeared to have sent the match to penalties with his goal.
Both teams continued to hunt for a winner, but it was United who were ultimately successful when Amad Diallo sent the home side to Wembley in stoppage time after more than two hours of action.
After the match, Keane compared United’s performance to the 0-0 draw between the two teams earlier this season.

‘Man United were criticized a few months ago for going to Anfield not to get any draw for parking the bus. They didn’t park the bus today.
‘It’s huge. I think I’m trying to get momentum into the season. If they had lost today, especially the second half, the way the game would look, you would lose the game. We keep talking about faith, faith in terms of winning big football games, you are at Man United to win big football games.
“They’ve lost way too many this year. They have stopped appearing in today’s big matches. Hopefully that will give the players confidence and we look forward to the semi-final draw.”
Following Keane’s analysis, United learned that they will face Coventry in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on the weekend of April 20.
A win could mean a rematch of last year’s final in which Manchester City played in the competition, when Pep Guardiola’s City play Chelsea that weekend.
