Roy Keane has criticized Erling Haaland for his reaction to his substitution against Wolves last weekend, before shooting a menacing look at Sky Sports presenter David Jones ahead of Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Tottenham.

The Norway international scored four goals, including a hat-trick in the first half, before being subbed off in the second half. Haaland looked furious while on the bench with Pep Guardiola keen to rest him as Man City closed in on the Premier League title.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Keane has sparked a war of words between himself and Haaland when he said: ‘We saw Haland taken off yesterday, not too happy. [he was] acts like a spoiled brat.

“I think if you also have a fight with the manager and of course your Star Man, it doesn’t help that the results aren’t to your liking. But because they win the game, he scores goals, that’s almost forgotten.’

Jones then asked Keane: ‘Spoiled brat? Isn’t that okay if you score four goals?’

But Keane was unenthusiastic about the presenter’s comments and responded bluntly: ‘No no. No, that’s not it.’

There was then an awkward moment of silence in the Sky Sports studio, with the ex-Manchester United captain giving the program presenter a stern look.

Jones then broke the silence with a sheepish response, saying, “Okay… I might get into that later.”

“No problem,” Keane replied, as fellow pundit Daniel Sturridge burst into fits of laughter.

Keane previously described the Norwegian’s overall play as that of a League Two striker, prompting Haaland to respond after their win over Wolves.

“The level of his overall play is so poor, and not just today, I think his overall clearance, headers or whatever it may be in terms of front of goal is the best in the world,” he told Sky Sports ‘post-match coverage’, Keane said earlier.

‘But considering his overall play for such a player, it’s so bad, and not just today. I think he needs to improve so that he is almost a League Two player.”

Keane then backtracked on his comments after Haaland scored on his return from injury against Nottingham Forest last week.

The former Manchester United midfielder joked: ‘He looked very much like a champion player, he has improved a lot. As a goalscorer he is absolutely fantastic, there is no doubt about his quality when it comes to his finishing.

Haaland’s response was short and sweet, admitting, “I don’t really care about that guy, so that’s okay.”

His latest comments have reignited the war of words between the two, and it will certainly be awkward the next time Haaland is interviewed by Sky Sports with Keane in the studio.
