Roy Keane believes Man City WON’T win the Premier League after they dropped more points in draw with Spurs… as he backs one of their challengers to beat them to the title

  • Roy Keane, 52, says Arsenal are capable of winning the title this season
  • He says Manchester City lack the 'hunger' and 'desire' needed to win the title
  • Manchester United in a mess – they have a collapse in them – It all starts

Roy Keane says Arsenal can win the Premier League title this season and claims he doubts Manchester City can maintain their dominance.

Pep Guardiola's side currently sit third in the Premier League, three points behind Arsenal and one point behind Liverpool, after a 3-3 draw against Tottenham on Sunday.

Keane worries that City may not have the 'desire' and 'hunger' needed to overcome their Premier League counterparts, but insists it would be insane to bet against a side that has won the last three titles.

Keane told Sky Sports after the 3-3 draw with Spurs: 'I certainly wouldn't bet against Man City, but I'm starting to doubt City will win that title.'

He added: “There's a reason why it hasn't been won four years in a row because when you keep that level up, the hunger and the desire, you get a few injuries and some of the best guys come off.

'But definitely Arsenal and Liverpool I'm looking at, especially Arsenal with the strength and depth they have and the experience of last year.'

Jamie Carragher agreed with Keane, saying Arsenal will be a stronger and more challenging competitor after the 2022-2023 season, while Liverpool have experience of winning the league in recent years.

Carragher said: 'If you asked all of us, I think we still want Manchester City for the title. We've seen this before with City, where they go on a run in the second half of the season, winning ten or twelve games and pulling away from other teams. “Maybe Arsenal will be stronger this season because of their experience in those moments and we know Liverpool have been there before.”

Carragher further said that he is happy to see the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool challenging Man City as it makes the title race more exciting for the fans.

He said: 'I know you (Micah Richards) don't want to hear this, but for neutrals it's good to see City dropping points.

'You think about them winning the treble last season and you think 'who's ever going to stop them?' You feel like you have a title race now.

'You saw where Arsenal were last season and City still kept them behind. It feels like it could go into the final months of the season because of the situation City are in.”

Keane further spoke about the current situation at Tottenham, saying: 'They need to get some of their better players back (after injury).

“They have started the season well, there have been some problems in recent weeks, but they have played some decent things. Also bring in one or two (players) in January.

'Could they compete for the top four? It's a big ask, but I'm impressed with the manager. His personality is currently helping the club. His relaxed approach helps the players.

'The top four may be a bit of an exaggeration, but there have been big improvements at Spurs in recent months.'
