  • After the game, Roy Keane suggested that they still had “a few hurdles” to overcome

Man United legend Roy Keane has admitted he will be frustrated that Man City can win a historic Treble this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side are closing in on this impressive feat after beating Sheffield United 3-0 in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.

With the Premier League title race getting under way and City set to face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals, there has been a lot of talk lately about a Treble.

And after the match, United legend Keane revealed it would be difficult to see his side’s rivals achieve the feat, but warned there is still a long way to go.

Speaking ITV, Keane was asked if he would be annoyed if City won the Treble. He said: Yes [jokingly]. No, no, I don’t begrudge teams.

“I’m not one of those people, I watch people and I know how hard it is to win trophies, so if City keep winning it then it’s honestly well done because we know how hard it is.

“But they have a few hurdles to overcome, especially in terms of Real Madrid. But obviously they are big favorites for the FA Cup and of course the league, but I think Real Madrid is the big one. I think the biggest problem is getting over Real Madrid.’

Keane’s expert partner Ian Wright agreed with the United legend, suggesting it would be ‘incredible’ if City did it.

“The reason why the treble is so hard to do is because it’s an incredible performance. They must have done well to do so,” Wright said.

City are currently second in the Premier League. They are five points behind league leaders Arsenal but have two games to go and play the Gunners on Wednesday.

In the Champions League, they stormed into the semi-finals of the competition after a dominant 4-1 victory over Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

With only Madrid, Inter Milan and AC Milan in the league, it is expected that City will finally put an end to the wait for Europe’s most prestigious trophy.

In the FA Cup, they will take on rivals Man United of Brighton in the final later this year, while the other semi-final takes place on Sunday afternoon.

Elsewhere in the day, Riyad Mahrez scored the first-ever FA Cup semi-final hat-trick at Wembley Stadium.

It was also the first hat-trick in the league’s semi-final since Alex Dawson took a treble for Manchester Utd against Fulham in 1958.

Man City took the lead just before half-time after Daniel Jebbison knocked down Bernardo Silva in the penalty area and the Algerian saved his penalty.

He added two more after the break to round out victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.
