Rory McIlroy, Adele and Jared Leto among star-studded crowd in Las Vegas for F1 qualifying

Celebrities from across the sports, film and music worlds descended on the Las Vegas Strip on Friday evening as Formula 1 took over Sin City.

Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Co raced through the Nevada desert as they battled for pole position during qualifying.

They were watched by a host of A-listers, including Rory McIlroy, singer-songwriter Adele and Olympic champion Noah Lyles.

Snoop Dogg and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay were also among the household names watching the action.

Snowboarding legend Shaun White took part in qualifying in Sin City, alongside stars of the big and small screen such as Jenny McCarthy, Jared Leto and Nina Dobrev.

A host of other celebrities are expected to appear before Saturday’s race, including Brad Pitt, Beyonce, Paul Mescal, Michael Phelps, Paris Hilton and Sylvester Stallone.

McIlroy was seen wearing headphones in the Alpine garage. The golf star is one of the major investors in the team, alongside Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.

Adele, meanwhile, posed for photos in the McLaren garage. “Rumor has it that the one and only @Adele loves papaya,” McLaren posted on

Lyles, who won gold in the 100 meters at the Tokyo Olympics, hung out with the Ferrari team before qualifying.

“From the athletics track to the race track,” the team posted on social media, alongside photos of Lyles and drivers Charles Leclerc and Antonio Giovinazzi.

The glitzy showpiece in Vegas is one of three American races on the Formula 1 calendar.

This year, races have already taken place in Austin – the official American Grand Prix – and Miami.

It is the second year of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, with another event on the Formula 1 calendar in the city already scheduled for 2025.
