A grandmother’s estranged husband has been charged with murder after her body was found lifeless in his home.
Christine Rakic, 53, was found Tuesday night at the family’s former investment property in Rooty Hill, western Sydney, after a concerned relative raised the alarm with police.
She could not be rescued, while her ex-husband Dusan Rakic, 50, was also found at the scene with injuries to his throat and arms.
Rakic, 50, was taken to hospital under police guard and was in a critical condition in an induced coma.
On Friday morning he was charged with murder, violating a prohibition or restriction in a domestic violence-related AVO and violating bail.

He was denied bail and is due to appear in Mount Druitt local court later on Friday.
Rakic had moved into the Rooty Hill bungalow about a year ago. It was rented out until his marriage to his wife collapsed after two decades together.
Neighbors revealed that the couple discussed the sale of the Rooty Hill home with a real estate agent who lives around the corner from the property.
Mrs Rakic lived with her adult son Dion in the family home five minutes away in Hassall Grove.
Her Facebook profile is filled with photos of her with her grandchild through her adult daughter, Amellia.
At around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday night, neighbors said they heard two “big loud screams” and then silence until police arrived about 15 minutes later.

Dusan Rakic (pictured with his wife Christine and children Dion and Amellia) had moved into the Rooty Hill bungalow in western Sydney about a year ago when their marriage collapsed after two decades together
