  • The latest victory was the 47-year-old's 40th ranking title in his illustrious career
  • The snooker legend revealed his unique way of celebrating the triumph

Ronnie O'Sullivan made a big snooker fan day when he was spotted at a bus stop in York just before claiming his record-extending eighth British championship on Sunday.

The 47-year-old became the oldest winner of the tournament, 30 years after being crowned the youngest winner in 1993 at the age of 17.

O'Sullivan cruised through the match against Ding Junhui 10-7, which also gave him his 22nd Triple Crown triumph and a 40th ranking title – albeit his first since claiming his seventh World Championship at the Crucible 19 months ago.

But despite occupying an exalted position among his sport's greats, O'Sullivan has remained a relatively ordinary man.

So much so that ahead of the final – where he stood to win a whopping £250,000 – he was seen boarding a bus in York.

One fan couldn't help but share his excitement at seeing the snooker legend as he put his arm around him and claimed he was 'looking out for him'.

'Look who I have here! My Ronnie O'Sullivan, the star man.' The fan said in a video uploaded to TikTok.

'My blessed boy, the world legend of snooker champion. I've got it right here, buddy. Oh my god, I can't believe I met you, you know. I've been looking forward to you. Health!'

Following his latest triumph, O'Sullivan revealed he would celebrate his achievement by having a 'few chuckles' after admitting he gets more pleasure from going for a run in the morning or eating porridge for breakfast' with his mate.

“Just a few Snickers bars, a bag of chips and a Diet Coke on the highway on the way home.” He said that on Sunday. That's one of my favorite things to do after a few days on the road.

“I just dig into a double Snickers, a bag of cheese and onion, and a Diet Coke. Astonishing. It hits the spot perfectly.”
