Ronna McDaniel tells Trump she will RESIGN as Republican National Committee chair at the end of the month, report claims after facing multiple calls to step down

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel told former President Donald Trump she will resign at the end of the month after receiving multiple calls for her to resign.

The New York Times reports this Tuesday about McDaniel’s plans, with an RNC spokesperson pushing back and suggesting a final decision had yet to be made.

‘Nothing has changed. This will be decided after South Carolina,” RNC spokesperson Kieth Schipper told DailyMail.com.

South Carolina will hold a primary on February 24, which Trump hopes to win by such a large margin that it will put his last rival, the former South Carolina governor and UN ambassador, in trouble. Nikki Haley out of the race.

Trump wants to promote North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley to take McDaniel’s place, sources told The Times.

Trump appeared to suggest on his Truth Social account on Tuesday that he will decide the future of the RNC after the South Carolina primary on February 24.

“Ronna is now head of the RNC, and I will make a decision on my recommendations for RNC Growth the day after the South Carolina primaries,” he hid in a post bragging about his wins in Iowa and New Hampshire and previewing of his visit to Nevada during this week’s primaries and caucuses.

A number of MAGA-affiliated Republicans have called on McDaniel to quit in recent months, including suggestions from Trump in interviews and social media posts.

Turning Point USA founder and CEO Charlie Kirk told DailyMail.com in Las Vegas on Monday that he wanted Donald Trump Jr., Lara Trump or failed presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to take over the party.

“I think Vivek would be great. Or Don Jr. or Lara Trump,” Kirk said. “I mean, if the Trump campaign and the RNC merge, which they’re doing at the convention, why not call RNC Chairman Don Jr. let it be? He works his butt off, he raises a lot of money. He’s super intuitive.’

“Do you think he would want to do that?” DailyMail.com asked Kirk.

“No, that’s why he’d be great,” he insisted. ‘But Lara Trump would be a good one too. She’s very smart, great on TV. Vivek would do well.”

“So I think about Vivek, Don Jr. or Lara Trump,” he repeated. ‘I think you should step outside the committee. That’s my personal opinion. You need to leave this whole country club. You have to start thinking differently, you have to mix it up a bit.’

Kirk said if McDaniel “leaves, that’s fine.”

Trump once had a close relationship with Chairman McDaniel, but it deteriorated after 2020 and the 2022 midterm elections when MAGA-oriented Republicans began complaining that she could not achieve victories

“We tried to get another seat last January, but it didn’t work out,” Kirk said. “And we have been very dissatisfied in recent months with the way the RNC has handled several cases.”

Kirk wants the RNC “country club” to break up and get new blood in the leadership. And he thinks this should come from the pro-Trump world, as the campaign and RNC will merge at the convention in the summer.

Ramaswamy said in early November during the RNC’s third presidential primary debate in Miami, Florida, that he wanted to see McDaniel’s resignation.

He called the Republican Party a “party of losers” and demanded that the RNC chair “come to the stage tonight” and resign from her position.
