Ronna McDaniel calls for the GOP to focus on the “big picture” of defeating Democrats

Ronna McDaniel is calling on Republicans to stop attacking each other and instead focus their efforts on beating President Joe Biden in 2024.

The chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) also insisted that Donald Trump would sign a pledge to support whoever becomes the Republican candidate for president in 2024. Those who do not sign the pledge will not be allowed to participate in the debates conducted by the RNC. .

“I think everyone is going to sign it,” McDaniel told CNN’s State of the Union host Dana Bash on Sunday morning.

He also said that they all signed the pledge in the 2016 election.

McDaniel recently won her re-election bid as RNC chair, but the election became heated and resulted in a series of damning attacks on her record.

“I ran on a platform of unity and about bringing the party together,” McDaniel said. ‘And we can’t be so cruel and vitriolic to each other that in the end we don’t want to support each other. And I chose to run that way. Won.’

He said his re-election was a “symbol” that the Republican Party is dedicated to unity.

McDaniel defeated her main rival, RNC California national committee member Harmeet Dhillon, by a vote of 111 committee members to 51.

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell received just four votes.

“We can’t attack each other so much that we lose sight of each other, we have to beat the Democrats,” McDaniel insisted.

“We have to beat Joe Biden in 2024. And we can have divisive primaries and differences of opinion, but, in the end, we have to resolve them to win the big picture, which is running our country and doing what’s right for the American people.”

The Republican Party has denounced the Commission on Presidential Debates, claiming it is a partisan group that is not committed to treating candidates fairly, especially those on the Republican side.

Rather, the party will hold its own debates, but is making candidates who want to participate sign a pledge that they will endorse and fully endorse the eventual Republican presidential nominee.

McDaniel called the potential proposal a “no-brainer.”

McDaniel insisted that former President Donald Trump sign a pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee in 2024 despite doubts he would agree to do so.

However, some shared doubts that Trump would agree to do this if he does not win the nomination.

“If you’re going to be on the Republican National Committee debate stage asking the voters to support you, you need to say, ‘I’m going to support the voters and who they choose as their candidate,'” he said.

‘As chair of the RNC, if I said I would not support the Republican candidate, I would be removed from office. I would like to. They would rightfully take me away, ”he added. ‘It would be part of our bylaws, and they would kick me out as NCR president.’

“Anyone who steps on the Republican National Committee debate stage should be able to say, ‘I will support the will of the voters and our party’s eventual nominee.’

Asked if he thinks Trump would sign the pledge, McDaniel said: “Well, he signed it in 2016. They all signed it in 2016.”
