Ronan Keating reveals he is performing at high-profile Australian event amid rumours about which other global pop stars will take to the stage

Ronan Keating has confirmed the exciting news that he will be flying Down Under to perform at the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The 47-year-old Irish singer will make an exclusive visit to Flemington Racecourse to perform as part of the Crown Oaks Day celebrations on November 7.

He will also be performing a smaller gig for lucky guests at the VRC Crown Oaks Club Lunch on November 6, before his main gig the following day.

These are the Boyzone star’s only Australian appearances this year, as he jets Down Under after wrapping up his European tour later this month.

“I’ve always loved visiting Flemington and can’t wait to perform at The Park for the first time,” he said.

Ronan and his Australian-born wife Storm have attended the prestigious event twice before – once for Lexus Melbourne Cup Day in 2009 and for Penfolds Victoria Derby Day in 2012.

The ’90s superstar announced his two upcoming shows in Australia in an Instagram caption, which concludes his European tour this weekend.

“Easily the best summer shows I’ve ever done in Europe. Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket,” he wrote.

‘Playing to packed houses with my band, same team for 25 years, incredible musicians and crew. I don’t want the shows to stop.

‘Two more to go and then on to Australia. Love you all, see you soon somewhere.’

Australian singer Ricki-Lee Coulter will also take to the stage at The Park on Crown Oaks Day.

With even more entertainment planned, rumors are swirling that even more world-famous stars will be making an appearance.

Coldplay will also be in Australia on the same dates in November for their Music Of The Spheres world tour. There is speculation that they will also perform there.

Take That will also be in town during Carnival Cup week, as will Murder On The Dancefloor hitmaker Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Ronan rose to fame alongside Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy, Michael ‘Mikey’ Graham and Stephen Gately in the 90s boy band Boyzone, formed by pop manager Louis Walsh.

The group achieved international fame and achieved six number 1 hits in the UK, including Words, No Matter What, All That Matters To Me and You Needed Me.

The band officially broke up in 2000, but have since reunited for major tours, including the Back Again… No Matter What tour in 2009, the last time they performed as a five-piece band before Stephen’s death.

The band reunited in 2013 to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a tour and new releases.

In 2018, Boyzone confirmed their plans to split for good, after releasing one final album dedicated to their late bandmate Stephen.

Stephen died suddenly in 2009 at the age of 33 from a congenital heart defect.
