This comes after Ronan announced live on air that he is leaving the Magic Radio Breakfast Show after seven years.

The Boyzone star became co-host of the morning show in September 2017, alongside Harriet.

During the morning show he announced that he was retiring from presenting. His last show will be on July 31st, but he did say that he would remain part of the Magic Radio family.

Ronan stressed that it was a “difficult decision” but that he wanted to return to his music career and spend more time with his family.

Addressing listeners live in the studio, Ronan said: ‘It was very difficult for me to come to this conclusion and make this decision.’

“I wanted our listeners, our Magic Breakfast listeners and our Magic Radio listeners to be the first to know.

‘That after seven years and so many great shows, I have decided to stop with Magic Breakfast at the end of July.’

“I’ve loved every minute of it, this was definitely not an easy decision. I came on board here, as you know, for a year, maybe two, and I’ve enjoyed the work so much that I’ve stayed here for seven years now.”

“We had a great time and we had some very emotional moments with the people back home.”

“Those two years when the world changed. It was an honor to be in people’s homes and to communicate with them the way we did.”

Speaking to co-host Harriet, he continued: ‘So yeah, while I won’t be waking up the nation with you anymore, I’m looking forward to, I guess, getting back in touch with what I was doing before – you know, getting back to my music and touring. Even though I’ve done it, it’s not always been easy trying to do both at the same time.’

‘And back to my family – you know, doing school runs and those things that I’ve missed. Waking up in the morning with my wife, you know? I know it sounds ridiculous, but it’s really important and I’ve missed that.’

He then paid tribute to Harriet and thanked the listeners and crew, saying, “I’ve discovered how great it is to connect with people.”

“The medium of radio is so powerful, more powerful than anything else in this modern age. And it’s a real honor to broadcast and to be considered a radio announcer.”

After his performance, the singer appeared moved as staff applauded him as he left the building

‘You [Harriet] and I, they put us together. Who knew this could work?! It’s been incredible. I’m going to miss you. It’s been an amazing seven years.’

“You taught me so much, Harriet Scott. You are a radio legend and it was an honor to broadcast with you.”

“You guys showed me how to do this and it’s an honor. I’m not leaving the Magic Radio family, just Magic Breakfast. It’s time to go.”

“A huge thank you to everyone for the love that you’ve shown me, the love that you’ve shown to this show over the last seven years. It’s been incredible.”

Following the news, Harriet responded enthusiastically: ‘Well what can I say, I’m devastated that I won’t have to spend my mornings with my little buddy any more, but I’m also incredibly excited that he’s starting his next chapter.’

‘Ronan is one of a kind and I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of him here at Magic!’
