Cristiano Ronaldo will receive the green light to make his Al-Nassr debut after the Saudi club terminated Vincent Aboubakar’s contract.

According to reports in France, Aboubakar has agreed to terminate his contract and will be compensated by the club.

He is now a free agent and can choose his next destination with reports suggesting Manchester United have shown interest in bringing him to Old Trafford this month.

His departure means Ronaldo can be officially registered to play for Al-Nassr, but it is unlikely that he will make his long-awaited debut until January 22.

Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Al-Nassr and is set to earn £175 million a season for two years

The 37-year-old is due to serve a two-match suspension after a 14-year-old player tore a mobile phone out of his hands following Manchester United’s loss to Everton in 2021.

He completed the first of his suspension games during Friday’s 2-0 win over Al-Ta’ee and will miss his team’s derby at Al-Shabab on 14 January.

This will free up the Portuguese star to make his debut in the home clash with Ettifaq in two weeks’ time.

Ronaldo was introduced as an Al-Nassr player on Tuesday, but has yet to make his debut for the club.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has been working hard in the gym to prepare for the rest of the Saudi Pro League season.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has not played a competitive game since appearing as a substitute in Portugal’s World Cup quarterfinal loss to Morocco on December 10.
