Ronaldinho made a surprise appearance at Powerleague in Shepherd’s Bush on Friday while visiting London with Nike.

The all-time great was mobbed by stunned onlookers after arriving at the West London venue in a striking pink Rolls-Royce adorned with the Nike tick mark.

After getting out of the car, he was escorted to one of the fields and took part in a noisy event where novice footballers tried their luck on goal.

A select group of happy youngsters then posed for a photo with Ronaldinho, who also made waves on social media after stopping by Nike Town in Oxford Circus.

Videos posted on X showed his visit bringing traffic to a standstill.

The Barcelona and Brazil legend held up a bright pink suitcase and appeared to have an ultra-modern boot, also in the same shade of pink, strapped to his jacket.

He was in town to launch the brand new Nike ‘Mad Brilliance’ collection.

The sportswear giants have coated their Air Zoom Mercurial, Phantom and Tiempo Legend ranges in shades of pink that are sure to stand out when worn on pitches around the world.

Ronaldinho’s brief London adventure saw his sponsors’ latest range, which went on sale on May 27, get the ultimate seal of approval.

A large crowd had gathered at Oxford Circus to watch the 44-year-old’s bombastic arrival, with scores of phones held up to capture the momentous moment.

Ronaldinho, meanwhile, will join other football legends in a new World Cup competition for the over-35s, with matches scheduled for this summer.

Plans, as first revealed by Mailsporthave been lined up to launch an eight-team tournament including England, Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Uruguay – the former regular FIFA World Cup champions.

Under the proposals, only players aged 35 or over who are capped by their country or who have made 100 top appearances will be eligible.

The preliminary selections have been spread out and include five former Ballon d’Or winners: Michael Owen, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Fabio Cannavaro.

The quarter-finals are scheduled for June 4 and 5 and the semi-finals on June 8, followed by the final on June 11 – ahead of the start of Euro 2024.
