Ron DeSantis tears into the Department of Justice following Trump indictment

“Why so zealous about chasing Trump yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter?” Ron DeSantis storms into the Justice Department as his 2024 rival is hit with seven federal charges, but doesn’t say he wants to pardon him

Ron DeSantis runs to the defense of his 2024 Republican rival Donald Trump to attack the Justice Department and ask why it isn’t going after Hillary Clinton or Hunter Biden.

Florida’s governor said Thursday night, “The arming of federal law enforcement poses a mortal threat to a free society.”

He attacked the Biden administration hours after Trump revealed he had been charged on seven federal charges in the classified documents case.

However, he stopped short of saying he would pardon Trump if elected.

“For years we have witnessed an uneven application of the law depending on political affiliation.

Why so zealous about chasing Trump yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter? The DeSantis administration will be accountable to the DOJ, excise political bias, and end armaments once and for all.”

DeSantis and Trump have exchanged bars as the Republican campaign for president in 2024 gets underway.

But DeSantis dropped his guard to criticize the move that makes Trump the first president to face federal indictments.

He joined Republican members of Congress in tearing up the double standards of justice, claiming the timing of the indictment was convenient given new allegations that President Biden had received $5 million in bribes from a Burisma executive when he was vice president.

“Today is indeed a black day for the United States of America,” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said.

“It is unconscionable for a president to indict the leading candidate against him. Joe Biden kept classified documents for decades.

“I, and every American who believes in the rule of law, stand with President Trump against this grave injustice. House Republicans will hold accountable for this brutal weaponization of power.”

“If those in power can lock up their political opponents at will, we don’t have a republic,” tweeted Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), defending Trump, leading supporters in chants of “lock.” her up’ during the 2016 campaign.

“DOJ sues former president/candidate Trump THE SAME DAY DOJ/FBI restricts access to unnecessarily redacted Biden allegations And they wonder why people think there are two standards of justice,” enraged Iowa Senator Charles Grassley, a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, on Twitter.

Grassley spent weeks joining Rep. James Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, to pressure the FBI to hand over information containing allegations about Biden.
