Ron DeSantis welcomed 4,000 people to his inaugural ball in Tallahassee, Florida, where he danced with his wife Casey to the song “Sweet Florida” and guests enjoyed extensive entertainment and an elaborate marching band.

First lady Casey DeSantis stunned guests in a gold-embellished ballgown reminiscent of Disney Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast, with one attendee calling her a “class act.”

Florida’s first couple, according to several attendees and later confirmed by DeSantis’ team, danced on stage to Sweet Florida, a song written by the band Van Zant as an ode to DeSantis, and Frank Sinatra’s ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ .

The first verse of Sweet Florida says that DeSantis “stands up for what he believes in” and warns people not to “come here trying to change things.”

DeSantis’ three children, Madison, Mason, and Mamie, also danced onstage at the beginning of the ball. The couple’s daughter donned puffy white dresses and her son styled daddy in a mini version of a tuxedo.

Other than that first dance, most guests say they didn’t see much of the couple all night.

Attendees had mixed reviews of the inaugural ball, which could be indicative of whether or not they were able to secure VIP admission. Guests who left said the event at the Donald L Tucker Civic Center was segregated between VIP and general admission.

A man who left the ball around 8:00 pm described the VIP section as ‘where the real party was’.

Bernice, 79, of Boca Raton, said the event was “too crowded” and a “fire hazard.” She also described it as “COVID paradise.”

The Franklin County, Florida tax collector told DailyMail.com that “the enthusiasm of the crowd was the best I’ve seen at any inauguration,” and he’s been to several.

Attendees were able to walk away with koozies as a souvenir of the Florida Grand Opening

In addition to dancing in the large open arena, guests were also able to take photos at a station that included a hedge and DeSantis’s inauguration week logo, which includes his overarching tagline: “The Free State of Florida.”

The party favors given out to the guests were white koozies with navy blue writing.

Pink and purple lighting was scattered throughout the arena, guests described to DailyMail.com, and some ‘snacks’ included desserts, fruit and chicken and waffle skewers.

The inaugural ball wraps up the festivities surrounding the start of Governor DeSantis’s second term in the Sunshine State amid rumors that he could launch a presidential bid in 2024.
