Romesh Ranganathan’s new ITV show Parents Evening comes under fire as soon as it lands with first episode
Romesh Ranganathan’s new show Parents Evening was criticized shortly after landing on ITV screens with its first episode.
The brand new series kicked off on Saturday evening and brought with it a host of famous faces including Alison Hammond and her son Aidan, Carol Vorderman with her son Cameron and Iain Stirling with his mother Alison.
The family duos worked together had to guess how many questions the other could answer correctly, giving viewers insight into the parental relationships of celebrities.
But Romesh’s project quickly came under fire after fans clamored for the questions to quickly disappear from the screen.
Some viewers were annoyed at not being able to play the game at home and complained about too much screen time on the participants’ faces, commenting on X:

‘#ParentsEvening keep the questions in view!’;
‘Remember only 3 episodes in this series??? #Parentsevening #RomeshRanganathan I just need the faces of Romesh and the participants in mini screenshots at the bottom of the screen so that questions stay on the screen longer, too much cut off from the main question options hint hint series 2 changes’;
‘#ParentsEvening quiz shows are usually about letting the home viewer answer the questions, but in this case the questions weren’t on screen long enough for me to try’;
“Obligatory new game show tweet – I like #ParentsEvening. Yes, the questions should stay on the screen somehow and it’s annoying that they don’t, but they can fix that. I like the format and it all works differently. So far so good…’;
And that wasn’t the only reason the ITV show was publicly criticized, as fans also raised eyebrows over Alison Hammond’s ‘ruthless’ comments to his son Aiden.
However, Alison apparently had no faith in her offspring’s knowledge and while some shut down the broadcast channel at home, others were left in hysterics.

Meanwhile, Romesh recently opened up about how his focus on comedy career almost destroyed his marriage.
The 46-year-old host of The Weakest Link said he and his wife Leesa had to work hard to ‘really fall in love again’.
He explained that his marriage suffered because he focused all his energy on his career, leaving very little time for his wife and three children.
Speaking to Gabby Logan for her podcast The Mid-Point (MUST), he said: ‘I fit the stereotype of ‘provided very little’. You’re in and out. I was often exhausted from working or being on tour.
“And I came back and I just wasn’t that good of a person. My conversation wasn’t very good. I would just crash on the couch.
‘You can say you’re tired, fine, but you have to put some effort into it and that certainly didn’t work out.’ He sighed, “The truth is, you get caught up in things. You have to appreciate the person who is at home more.
‘It’s been months. if not the best part of a year, when you talk to each other for functional reasons. “What’s going to happen to the kids tomorrow…” and that’s all your conversations.
“This is what happened to Leesa and me. We have stopped investing in our relationship.’
