Roman Kemp supports Lewis Capaldi for cancelling all work commitments amid mental health struggles

‘He sets a good example’: Roman Kemp backs friend Lewis Capaldi for canceling all work commitments amid mental health issues

Roman Kemp has shown support for his friend Lewis Capaldi after the singer canceled all his work commitments amid his mental health struggles.

The Scottish superstar, 26, recently opened up about his health in the new Netflix documentary, How I’m Feeling Now, and has since announced he’s taking time out to rest and recover ahead of his performance at Glastonbury.

Radio host Roman, 30, praised Lewis for “leading by example” and “being fair to fans” after pulling out of this weekend’s Capital’s Summertime Ball.

In an interview with The Sun on Friday, he explained: “It’s so important that people realize that it’s okay to take time out and take care of yourself and your mental well-being so that someone like Lewis, who is so honest and open with fans, can really make a difference .”

“But it’s so brave to speak up, especially when you’re on top of your game like he is.”

Roman continued, “It is believed that if you are very successful and everything is going well, you cannot struggle with your mental health, but that is simply not true. He is a good example for people and I wish him all the best.

Earlier this week, Lewis explained that he needs time to focus on his health ahead of Britain’s biggest music festival, which means he will miss performances at other shows.

Hitmaker Someone You Loved announced on Instagram on Monday: “Hello everyone, hope you are doing well. This is a very difficult message, and it pains me a lot to have to type it.

“But I am very sorry to say that from now on I have to cancel all commitments until I play at Glastonbury on June 24.

“It’s been such an incredible time leading up to this new album, and seeing all the support from everyone is more than I could have ever dreamed of.”

Lewis continued: ‘Having said that the last few months have been busy both mentally and physically, I haven’t really been home since Christmas and at the moment I’m struggling to get the hang of it all.

“I need to take some time to rest and recover, to be at my best and ready for Glastonbury and all the other incredible shows coming up so I can continue doing what I love for a long time to come.

“I need to take these three weeks to be Lewis from Glasgow, spend some time with my family and friends and do the normal things that are important to feel better. I hope everyone understands.’

He continued, “I know many of you will have spent money on travel or hotels, which I appreciate more than ever with how difficult the economy is right now, so I am extremely sorry for the impact this will have.

“The fact that you are willing to come out and give your time, money and love to these shows is beyond comprehension and I feel incredibly lucky. I get all the help and support I need from the incredible people around me that I am so thankful for.

He signed off by saying, “I don’t take any of this for granted and can’t wait to do it again. All my love, Lewis x’
