Roman Kemp reveals that Simon Cowell would take baths and enjoy messages while filming The X Factor
Roman Kemp has revealed that Simon Cowell used to leave the set of The X Factor to take baths and enjoy massages.
The presenter revealed some secrets from his time on the UK talent show in its later seasons, while chatting with former contestant Olly Murs during his Capital Breakfast show on Thursday.
As the pair discussed Olly’s switch from starring on a talent show to hosting one, the singer explained that most judges are ‘in the zone’ when they work.
But recalling an experience he had while appearing on spin-off The Xtra Factor, Roman shared that Simon was an exception to the rule, as he recalled the judge heading for a pampering moment during filming.
Sharing that sometimes the crew would wait “three hours” for the mogul to return before they could start filming, Olly admitted that he also remembered the antics.

Memory Lane: Recalling an experience he had while appearing on spin-off The Xtra Factor, Roman shared that Simon was an exception to the rule, as he recalled the judge heading for a pampering moment during filming.
Olly discussed his role in hosting the talent show Starstruck, in which Shania Twain joins the Season 2 judging panel, along with Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight and Jason Manford.
Sharing that Shania isn’t your conventional judge, the “Marry Me” singer explained: “In between all the takes on the show, when we were on our breaks, we’d have all the different judges’ music and she [Shania Twain] he would come out and sing every night, entertaining the crowd.
“I’ve been on previous shows before, X Factor, all things over the years, a lot of the judges just sit there and don’t entertain, they’re in the zone, they’re working…”
Referencing The X Factor, Roman responded: ‘Simon’s going to take a bath!’
Agreeing, Olly recalled that Simon not only enjoyed baths, but also received a massage during filming.
Roman continued: “When I used to work on Xtra Factor, we weren’t allowed to start because Simon wasn’t on set yet and it was like three hours, and people were like, ‘Where’s Simon?’ and they’re like, ‘He’s on the set. bathroom”.
Laughing, Olly considered: ‘That’s so true… I need to start doing that, I need my own diva thing, as the host of the show.’
Roman hosted Xtra Factor, a behind-the-scenes spin-off of The X Factor, in 2016.
Guest: The conversation came up when Olly Murs guest-starred on Roman’s Capital Breakfast show.
Roman explained: “When I used to work on Xtra Factor, we weren’t allowed to start because Simon wasn’t on set yet and it was like three hours, and people were like, ‘Where’s Simon?’ and they’re like, ‘He’s on the set. bathroom”‘

Pampered: Olly added that it wasn’t just about baths, he also saw Simon leave the judges chair for massages (Simon pictured in 2015)
While Olly hosted the main talent show a year earlier, he appeared alongside the late Caroline Flack.
The X Factor UK was dropped in 2018, but Simon is still flying high on the US version of the show, while also judging Britain’s Got Talent.
While he’s reportedly slated for a 2024 return, Simon recently revealed that he’s “most likely” coming back.
And Olly may be interested in getting involved, recently admitting at the Pride Of Britain Awards that he “would love to be in on it.”
You know, Simon knows where I am. If you ever wanted to have a talk about it, I’d love to be in on it,” Olly told The Daily Star.
Host: While Olly has opened up about his hosting role on the talent show Starstruck, he’s also previously hinted at a return to X Factor if he ever returns.
