Rolling Stones announced the release date of their new album Hackney Diamonds and single Angry during a special live event with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday.
Arriving at the Hackney Empire in London, in front of a crowd of screaming fans, Sir Mike JaggerKeith Richard and Ronnie Wood revealed that the record will fall on October 20.
On what will be their first album of original songs in 18 years and the first without the late drummer Charlie Watts, the rock and roll legends said, “Of course he will be missed.”
Keith added: ‘Since Charlie’s gone it’s different, he’s number four.
“He’s missing, of course he’s sorely missed, but thanks to Charlie we have Steve Jordan, who recommended him if anything were to happen to him.”

The guitarist continued, “He’s a friend of ours, so he was a natural progression. It would have been a lot harder without Charlie’s blessing.
Sir Mick added that there are twelve tracks on the album and while Jordan features most of the tracks, two tracks were recorded with Charlie in 2019.
Frontman Sir Mick has announced that the band will be releasing a new single called Angry and an accompanying video.
Explaining the title, Keith said, “We were throwing around ideas for titles and went from Hit And Run to Smash And Grab and we came up with Hackney Diamonds, a variation of both, and we’re a London band.”
Fans around the world can listen to their new material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang on the band’s official YouTube channel.
Satisfaction hitmakers Mick, 80, Keith, 79, and Ronnie, 76, said: ‘Hackney may be at the heart of Hackney Diamonds, but this is a truly global moment that we want to share with fans around the world via YouTube.’
In a trailer for the event, American host Jimmy, 48, was called by the trio asking if he would like to host.
In the caption, it teased, “Talk about new album, new music, new era.”

The details of the event come after the legendary group used an ad in the local newspaper to reveal the name of their next album.
The rockers of Paint It Black used the publicity gimmick to tell fans they’re calling their new record Hackney Diamonds – placing the announcement in London’s Hackney Gazette newspaper disguised as an advertisement for a fictional glass company of the same name.
A fan who saw it shared the ad on X and said, “Has anyone seen this? Hackney Gazette ran an ad for a company called “Hackney Diamonds” teasing Rolling Stones song titles.
Their approximate date is 1962, the same year Stones was founded. The website appears to be operated by Universal Music, the Stones’ label.
“An indication that their long-awaited new LP is on its way.”
The Hackney Gazette ad featured a tiny version of the Stones’ iconic tongue logo, forming the “i” in the Diamonds brand name.
The ad’s blurb also included a reference to the Stones’ 1965 hit “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” as well as nods to the songs “Gimme Shelter” and “Shattered.”
The font used for “Hackney Diamonds” is also the same as the font used on the Stones’ album cover for 1978’s “Some Girls.”

It added that the “glass company” was “founded in 1962,” referring to the year the Stones were founded,
The ad ran on page three of the paper on August 21 and included a phone number.
When you call, a recorded message plays that seems to announce the record, or a single from it coming out in September.
It says: ‘Welcome to Hackney Diamonds, glass repair specialists.
‘Don’t get mad, get it fixed – opening early September, Mare Street, E8.’
The message also urges callers to “register for a call at www.hackneydiamonds.com,” adding, “Come on.”
Hackney Diamonds will be the Stones’ 31st studio album and first without their drummer Charlie Watts, who passed away in August 2021 at the age of 80 after battling cancer.
It’s already been known that Bill Wyman, 86, the Stones’ regular bassist, returned to the group to record a song for their next album as a tribute to Charlie.
It has also been reported that the Stones’ next record would feature drumming from Charlie, recorded before his death, and will feature performances by Sir Paul McCartney, 81, and 76-year-old Sir Elton John.
